Opening Praise and Testimony

All praise is due to Allah. We praise Him, we seek His help and we seek His forgiveness. We believe in Him and we put our trust in Him. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our souls and from the evils of our actions. Whom Allah guides, no one is misguided. Whom He misguides, no one guides him.

I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. Alone, there is no partner for Him. Exalted is He above all comparison. I bear witness that our Master Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger. I bear witness that He is His Messenger and His Friend. I bear witness that He is the best of His creation. I bear witness that He is trustworthy in His revelation. I bear witness that His Lord has sent Him as a mercy to the worlds. I bear witness that He is a proof for all people.

Allah guided him out of misguidance. He made him see out of ignorance. He increased him after his shortcomings. He made him secure after his fear. He made him rich after his poverty. There is no god but Allah.

The Day of Judgment

My dear beloved brothers and sisters. There is a day that we all know is to come. The Day of Judgment. A day that is so intense. A day that is so frightful. A day that is so scary. Where the sun is so close to people. Where they will literally be drowning in their sweat. A day that is so frightful. That Jahannam will be roaring and the angels will be trying to hold it back.

A day that is so scary that people will be scattered like moths.

A day where nobody cares about anyone except themselves.

On that day, mother will abandon child.

The ground quaking and shaking beneath them. Where a mother feeding her child would leave that child because of that fearful day.

People will be so scared and when they hear that roar of Jahannam they will fall to their knees they will be kneeling before God, they will be kneeling before Allah

Kneeling before Allah سبحانه وتعالى. Everyone will be saying نفسي نفسي - myself, myself. No one else would be worried about anyone else.

But there will be a voice that will say أمتي أمتي - My people, My أمة, يا رب my أمة. And that is our beloved messenger

The Praised Station of the Prophet

Our beloved messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم has a virtue, has a station, has a status that no other creation of Allah سبحانه وتعالى has - no other prophet has - that is the praised station on that day of judgment, the divine intercession that Allah سبحانه وتعالى has promised our beloved messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Seeking Help from the Prophets

On that day when people are so frightened they're so scared they will speak to one another and they will talk to one another and they will say: to who should we go to for help? Who can get us out of this predicament? Who can get us out of this situation?

And they will say to one another: let us go to Adam - he is the father of mankind. And all of mankind will go to Adam عليه السلام and they will say to him that you were honored by Allah سبحانه وتعالى - he created you, he blew the روح into you, he made the ملائكة do سجدة to you. Can you not help us? اشفع لنا الى ربك - intercede on our behalf to your lord. You are our father, you are the grandfather of all of mankind.

And he Adam عليه السلام will say نفسي نفسي - myself, myself. My lord has never been as angry before this day and he will never be as angry after. I was told not to eat from that tree and I didn't listen and I ate from it. نفسي نفسي - myself, myself. Go to Nuh.

And all of mankind will be gathered and they will go to Nuh عليه السلام and they will come to him and they will say to him that you are the first رسول, you are the first messenger, you are the one who Allah called the very grateful servant of him عز و جل - عبد شكور. اشفع لنا الى ربك - intercede on behalf of us to Allah عز و جل.

And Nuh عليه السلام will say exactly the words of Adam عليه السلام: نفسي نفسي. And remember these are not ordinary people - these are the greatest people of mankind, they are the prophets of Allah. Nuh عليه السلام the one who stood in the da'wa for 950 years - if this is him, how will we be? How will our parents be? How will our children be? A very frightening day, a very scary day.

And Nuh عليه السلام will say that I made dua against my people. I made that dua:

رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ دَيَّارًا

نفسي نفسي - myself, myself. Go to Ibrahim عليه السلام.

And all of mankind will go to Ibrahim عليه السلام and they will say to him اشفع لنا الى ربك - intercede on behalf of us to Allah عز و جل. You are the prophet of Allah, you are خليل الله - you are the one who Allah took as a close friend.

Help us! Don't you see our situation? Don't you see what we have, what is with us?

And he will say نفسي نفسي. Ibrahim عليه السلام will say myself, myself. I said three ambiguous statements - ثلاثة كذبات. The first when he said إني سقيم when his people went to the festival and he said I don't feel well. The second when he pointed to the idol and he said ask the big idol, he did it:

بَلْ فَعَلَهُ كَبِيرُهُمْ هَٰذَا

And the third one when he told his wife Sarah عليه السلام in front of the tyrant to say that I am your brother because I am your brother in Islam and there are no other believers except us, because that tyrant would kill any man that would be husband to a woman. And again all of these are to defend himself and the religion of Allah.

How many lies do we tell? What will be our situation on that day? He will say نفسي نفسي. Go to Musa.

And all of mankind will then go to Musa عليه السلام and they will say to him and we will say to him that Allah has given you such a status - he gave you the Torah, he spoke to you directly:

وَكَلَّمَ اللَّهُ مُوسَىٰ تَكْلِيمًا

Help us! Intercede on behalf of us to your Lord! Don't you see our situation? Don't you see our predicament?

And he will say the same words: نفسي نفسي - myself, myself. I killed the soul that I was not commanded to kill. Go to Isa.

And all of mankind will go to Isa عليه السلام and he will say the same words that were uttered by the prophets before. He will be told that you are the prophet of Allah:

وَكَلِمَتُهُ أَلْقَاهَا إِلَىٰ مَرْيَمَ وَرُوحٌ مِّنْهُ

You spoke in the cradle. The first words that you said:

وَإِنِّي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ

إِشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ - help us, intercede on behalf of us to Allah عز و جل.

And he will say what the prophets said before - my Lord has never been as angry before and he will never be as angry after. But he did not mention any mistake of his and yet he says: go to Muhammad Go to Muhammad.

The Prophet's Response and Intercession

And all of mankind - we will go to our beloved messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم and we will say to him: you are the prophet of Allah, you are the messenger of Allah, you are the seal of all prophets. إِشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ - intercede on behalf of us to your Lord.

And our beloved messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم - اَنَا لَهَا - he is for this! He will go to the عرش, he will go to the throne of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى and he will fall to سجدة and he will be divinely inspired to praise Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى in ways and in words that he has never been praised before.

What we know of the names of Allah عز و جل are just a window for us to understand who Allah عز و جل is. And we know and we're limited to those 99 names. Imagine what the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and how he will praise Allah on that day.

And he will be told by Allah عز و جل: اِرْفَعْ رَأْسَكْ - raise your head. سَلْ تُعْطَه - ask, you will be given. اِشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ - intercede and your intercession will be accepted.

The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم - صلوا على رسول الله - he said of himself:

اَنَا الشَّافِعْ وَالْمُشَفَّعْ

(Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 346)

I am the one who will intercede on behalf of mankind and I am the one whose intercession will be accepted.

And he صلى الله عليه وسلم will be told to ask. All of the prophets they had a special dua وَتَعَجَّلُوهَا - and they did it in their lifetimes. The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم - صلوا عليه - he saved that dua for us, he saved that dua for you and I.

And he will say to Allah: أُمَّتِي أُمَّتِي أُمَّتِي أُمَّتِي - my people ya Allah, my community, my nation ya Allah.

And Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى will tell him and give him the news that all those that had no حساب - that had no accountability - take them to the right gates and the right doors of Jannah. And the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم will lead the believers to Jannah. May Allah make us from them, ya Rabb.

Multiple Intercessions for the Sinners

And then the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم he does not stop there. His شفاعة - his intercession - is not for the أولياء. He said:

(Sunan Abu Dawud, Hadith 4739)

My intercession is for those that committed major sins from my Ummah. My شفاعة is for المذنبين والخطائين - is for the sinners, is for those who made mistakes.

He will come back to Allah عز و جل, he will go to سجدة and he will praise Allah in ways he has never been praised before. Allah عز و جل will tell him: ارفع رأسك - raise your head. Ask and you will be given. Intercede, your intercession will be accepted.

And he صلى الله عليه وسلم again will say: أمتي أمتي - my people, my people ya Allah. And Allah عز و جل will tell him that anyone who even had the weight of a barley grain of Iman in their hearts - take them to Jannah.

And the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم does not stop there. He goes for a third time and he repeats the same thing and he is told: intercede, your intercession will be accepted - for the one who has even the least, least, least bit of Iman - a particle of a mustard seed - to take them to Jannah.

And the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم does not stop there. He comes for a fourth time and he comes صلى الله عليه وسلم to the عرش of الرحمن - to الرحمن the most merciful - and he says and he does the same thing and Allah tells him: ارفع رأسك - raise your head.

And the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم he said: اذن لي يا رب في من قال لا اله الا الله - give me permission ya Allah for whoever even said لا اله الا الله.

And the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم will be told by Allah عز و جل:

بعزتي و كبريائي و عظمتي لأخرجن من النار من قال لا اله الا الله

(Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 7510)

By my supreme power and magnificence, Allah عز و جل will say: I will take out from the hell fire anyone - anyone and everyone, everyone - who said لا اله الا الله.

We ask Allah سبحانه وتعالى to make us from those that are part of this divine intercession, يا رب العالمين.

Being Presentable Before the Prophet

And Allah - we're so fortunate to be from the ummah of Muhammad We're so fortunate that he is our master, that he is our prophet. We're so fortunate that we will be inshallah with our iman from those that get his divine intercession that is promised by Allah سبحانه وتعالى.

But my dear brothers, would you not want the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to see you on that day and be smiling? It's upon us to be presentable in front of him صلى الله عليه وسلم - to be those from his ummah that he is proud to say that this person was from my ummah, that he will smile when he looks at us.

When he sees us, he sees people of wudu and salat that will come with bright limbs, that will come with bright faces. When he sees us, he sees people of Quran that will come with crowns, that will come with jewels. When he sees us, he sees people who followed his sunnah, he sees people that loved his way and preferred his way over everyone else's.

Wouldn't you want to be presentable in front of Rasulullah We have to earn that first rank. Let us not be from the second, third and fourth. Let us be from the first people that are taken to the right gates to Jannah.

How to Earn the Prophet's Intercession

So how can we earn the shafa'ah of How can we earn that intercession? How can we be from those first?

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم told us many ways. The first one is: be sincere in your tawheed with Allah عز و جل. When you ask, ask him. When you seek help, seek help from him. The most happy people with the intercession of الحبيب المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم are those that said لا إله إلا الله with true sincerity.

As our messenger taught us: المرء مع من أحب - love Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم and you will be with him. Follow his teachings, follow his mannerisms, because the closest to him on the day of judgment are those that have the best of character.

The closest to him on the day of judgment are those that most said Let us race with one another who will be closer to him by competing - who can say صلى الله عليه وسلم more.

And the last thing: have the love of Medina in your heart.

Have the love of his home in your heart because that is where he chose to live and where he chose to pass away. And as al-Qadi Iyad mentioned that the best place on the face of this earth is not the Ka'bah - it's where he is buried. And this is by the consensus of all of the scholars of Ahlul Sunnah wal Jama'ah.

So visit Medina. Have that driving force that you want to go there. Don't just perform Umrah and neglect Medina. Have that love of Medina in your heart because the Prophet said: whoever is patient on the difficulties and hardship of Medina, I will be a means of intercession for him on the day of judgment.

May Allah make us from those that are patient with the hardships of Medina, يا رب العالمين, from those that have a love of his Sunnah, يا رب العالمين.
