Opening Praises and Testimony
We praise Him, we seek His help, we seek His forgiveness, and we seek His guidance. And we seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our souls and from the evil of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, no one is misguided, and whomsoever He misguides, no one is guided.
And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner. And I bear witness that our master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, his servant and his messenger, and his chosen one and his companion, delivered the message, and fulfilled the trust, and advised the Ummah, and strived in the cause of Allah for the truth of his Jihad until the certainty came to him. O Allah, send blessings and peace upon our master Muhammad, and upon his pure good people, and upon his righteous companions, and upon those who followed them with good till the Day of Recompense.
As for what follows — the most truthful speech is the Book of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance of our master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. And the worst of things is newly invented matters, and every newly invented matter is an innovation, and every innovation is a misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims.
O you people, fear your Lord, Who created you from one soul, and created from it its wife, and spread among them many men and women. And fear Allah, whom you ask about, and the wombs. Verily, Allah is ever watching over you.
The Visit of 'Ata to Our Mother 'A'ishah
Brothers and sisters, our books of hadith relate an incident where the famous Tabi'i scholar, 'Ata, came to visit our mother 'A'ishah, رضي الله تعالى عنها.
(Sahih Muslim, Book 6, Hadith 1703)
He says that he entered upon her with another person — 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr — and said to her: tell me the most amazing thing that you saw from the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
فَبَكَتْ — So she began to weep. She is weeping because she is reminded of her husband, whom she loved so dearly. This is years after his death, صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
And then she said: "What was not amazing about him?" صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. But then she picks something from his life that she feels at that moment was one of the most amazing things that she saw from him.
