A Powerful Khutbah From the Plain of Arafah | Shaykr Dr. Yasir Qadhi

All praise belongs to Allah, Exalted in His Almighty Name, The Bestower of All Blessings. No one can be equal to Him. وَحْدَهُ، صَدَقَ وَعْدَهُ، وَنَصَرَ عَبْدَهُ، وَأَعَزَّ جُنْدَهُ، وَهَزَمَ الأَحْزَابَ وَحْدَهُ، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللهُ، وَلاَ نَعْبُدُ إِلاَّ إِيَّاهُ، مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ، وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْكَافِرُونَ

Allahu Akbar for every single blessing He has given us, Allahu Akbar for His majestic names, Allahu Akbar for His divine attributes, Allahu Akbar for His perfection in His essence, in His dhāt, in His ṣifāt, Allahu Akbar for who Allah is, Allahu Akbar for every blessing that He has bestowed upon us, Allahu Akbar for having guided us to Islam — were it not for Allah we would not be guided to Islam. Allahu Akbar for having blessed us with health, Allahu Akbar for having given us our wealth, Allahu Akbar for our families, Allahu Akbar for every single ni'mah — the ni'mahs that we appreciate and know and the ni'mahs that are hidden from us. Allahu Akbar for having given us life, created us, guided us. Allāhu Akbaru'l-kabīra — we thank Allah, we praise Allah, we worship Allah for He alone is worthy of worship.

The Blessed Day of Arafat

All Muslims, today is the day of Arafat! Today is the day of Arafat, and what will make us understand what this day is and how blessed we are for being here on the plains of Arafat. Allah mentions this day directly and indirectly in the Qur'an multiple times. Allah mentions this day by name — it is mentioned by name, this rite, this ritual. Allah mentions it by name to underscore its importance, and Allah alludes to this day indirectly in a number of verses.

And some of the Sahaba said that the Shaf' is the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah and the Watr is the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah — that Allah is giving a qasam on the 9th and the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah. And in another verse, Allah says:

Ibn Abbas said that the Mashhūd is the day of Arafat. Mashhūd means that which is witnessed, and Ibn Abbas said, "Nothing is witnessed with a more majestic audience than the day of Arafat." Shāhid — Allah and the angels. Mashhūd — us over here. Allah is witnessing and we are the ones being witnessed.

So Allah gives a qasam upon the 9th and the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, and Allah gives a qasam upon this reality of us being watched by Allah, being witnessed by Allah. This is why our Prophet ﷺ said: "The best day of the whole year is the day of Arafah and then the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah." The 9th and the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah are the best days of the year, the holiest days of the year. Even the days of Ramadan do not compete with the blessedness of today and tomorrow.

The Completion of the Religion

It was on this day that Allah revealed one of the greatest verses in the Qur'an — a verse that a rabbi came to Umar ibn al-Khattab and he said to him, "O Umar, if we had this verse in our Bible, we would have taken the day this verse came down as a day of celebration." Umar said, "What verse?" He said:

"Today I have perfected your religion for you and completed My favors upon you, and I have chosen Islam as your religion." Umar ibn al-Khattab said, "I was there when that verse came down. It came down on the day of Arafah when the Prophet ﷺ was giving the khutbah of Arafah — it came down today!" And the rabbi said, "This day, if we knew it, we would take as a day of celebration." For us, this is our celebration — the celebration of the worship of Allah. For us, this is how we celebrate, thanking Allah لِتُكَبِّرُوا اللهَ عَلَى مَا هَدَاكُمْ — praising Allah for having guided us.

A Blessing Upon a Blessing

Dear Muslims, today is the day in which every single blessing has been combined upon us. We are currently sitting in a state and in a land and in a time and in a location and doing a ritual that is a blessing upon a blessing upon a blessing upon a blessing upon a blessing. There will never be another state of your life — unless Allah blesses you for another hajj — to be given this opportunity.

How so and why so? We are sitting in the holiest of holy days — the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah. This is the holiest day. We are sitting in the state of ihram and in the state of wudhu, and this is the highest physical state we can be in. We are physically wearing the ihram, we have entered the state of ihram, we are in the state of wudhu — there is no state that can be higher than this. We are doing the ritual of hajj, which is the highest ritual that can be done as a Muslim because it combines all the other rituals of salat and of zakah and of sadaqah. Hajj is the pinnacle of our rituals, and we are in that state.

And we are in the sacred months as well — the ash-hur al-haram — and we're in the sacred lands as well. We're in Mina and Muzdalifah and Arafat and heading to Mecca. Look at how many sanctities have been combined together: your location, your time, your month, your state, your ritual. And here you are, having been chosen by Allah, having been invited by Allah. Never will all of these states be combined, never will all of these blessings be combined, unless you happen to come on another hajj.

Shaitan's Humiliation and Allah's Boasting

Today is the day that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Never is shaitan more humiliated than on the day of Arafah." Why? Because he sees Allah's blessings showering down upon mankind. He sees Allah's maghfirah upon the people of Arafah — that's me and you here. He sees all those blessings come. Shaitan occupies a different world — he sees those blessings that we cannot see them. And when he sees all of Allah's rahmah come down, he curses himself, he bemoans himself, he says, "Why didn't I worship Allah? I could have gotten those blessings!" In one narration, the Prophet ﷺ said: "He literally takes pebbles and throws them on his head and he says, 'Why wasn't I of the worshippers? I wish I had done something different.'" Shaitan is jealous of what he is seeing Allah do unto us today.

Today is the day that Allah Himself boasts to the angels. He boasts to the angels. He comes to the lowest heavens and He says to the angels: "Look at My servants! They have come from all over the world. They have come tired, disheveled, dirty, hungry. They have come and they haven't even seen Me — imagine if they had seen Me! They have come believing in Me — they didn't see Me, they believe in Me. They have come wanting My maghfirah, wanting their du'as to be answered." So Allah boasts to the angels, and Allah says to them: "Bear witness — this is the shahada — bear witness O angels, I have forgiven all of them and granted all of them what they want."

There is no other opportunity where this announcement will be made for me and you. There is no other opportunity where Allah will make this announcement and tell the angels: "Here are the people — they have come, let them ask, let them beg, let them want My forgiveness. All that they want shall be given to them."

The Power of Du'a on Arafah

This is the day of Arafah, and that's why the Prophet ﷺ said: "The best du'a is the du'a of Arafah." There is no du'a you and I can ever make in our lives, there is no du'a that is more powerful than the du'a of Arafah.

In fact, du'a of Arafah is so important that that is all the Prophet ﷺ did on the entire day of Arafah. He combined zuhr and asr so that even asr prayer is brought forward, so that the entire day is empty and blank. The entire day has no other rituals other than dhikr and du'a — praising Allah which is a type of du'a, and asking Allah for your needs. From now till salatul maghrib you barely have a few hours. That time frame, there is no deed that needs to be done other than dhikr and du'a.

This is why we have come for hajj. الْحَجُّ عَرَفَةُ، الْحَجُّ عَرَفَةُ، الْحَجُّ عَرَفَةُ — as the Prophet ﷺ said. This is why we have come here.

This Is Not Your First Time Here

But O Muslims, perhaps you do not know that this is not the first time you are here — even if it is your first hajj. Perhaps many of you do not know that this is not the first time you have been here, even though for many of you, for most of you, this might be your first hajj.

We learn from our tradition, we learn from our books of hadith and seerah and history, that when Allah sent our father Adam down onto this earth after he had done what he did in the Jannah, and Adam was wandering in grief, in pain, asking Allah's forgiveness, begging Allah to forgive him — and Adam wandered and wandered and wandered for only Allah knows how long, alone. He did not know where Hawwa was.

And when he reached the plains of Arafat — when he reached this area here — it was on the plains of Arafat that Allah announced that He had forgiven our father Adam. Adam fell down in sajdah of gratitude, crying to Allah that Allah had forgiven him.

If the plains of Arafat is where Allah forgave our father Adam, today insha'Allah we will be forgiven by Allah if we turn to Him — no matter what we have done.

Our Sins and Allah's Forgiveness

O Muslims, we all come here today with our dark skeletons. We all come here today with our list of deeds that we are so ashamed of, we would not even want to tell our spouse and our closest friends. We all come today with baggage that really makes us feel so guilty, and it should make us feel guilty. But this is the time of istighfar, this is the time of tawbah, this is the time of forgiveness.

Here is where Allah forgave our father Adam. And no matter what our sins are, the sin of Adam in some ways can never be compared to ours, because he committed the sin after all he had seen while being in Jannah. And that is why he is human and we are human — we are his children. Adam was not perfect; we are also not going to be perfect. The sin of Adam was forgiven — surely my sin and your sin will also be forgiven. Today is the day of that forgiveness.

The Covenant of Souls

Then when Allah forgave our father Adam, and Adam stood up, the Qur'an says:

"Remember when Allah extracted from the backbone of Adam all of the souls of the children of Adam — remember when Allah extracted from the backbone of Adam all of the souls, and He scattered them in front of Himself, and He said to them, أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ — 'Am I not your Lord?' And all of the souls said بَلَىٰ — 'Yes, you are our Lord, O Allah!'"

That extraction took place right here in Arafat. Every single soul from the time of the children of Adam up until the trumpet will be blown — the soul was created here in Arafat. Not the body — the soul. And Allah extracted that soul.

We can say quite correctly: we were born on the plains of Arafat. Not our body — our mothers gave birth to our bodies where you all know — but the soul, where was that soul created? That soul was created right here on the plains of Arafat.

We are literally children of Arafat. This is our home. This is our birthplace. We don't remember it, but you and I were here — our souls were here — in a state before the physical state, in a state before the flesh and bones. And Allah asked all of us: "Am I not your Lord?" And at that time when we were pure, when the bodies hadn't corrupted us, when we were in our spiritual state, there was no ambiguity. Of course You are our Allah! بَلَىٰ — we know You are our Lord! How can we possibly doubt that?

The Sacred Journey of the Soul

But then when we are born in our physical bodies, Shaytan comes to us, our lusts come to us, our desires come to us, and the purity of our souls has been clouded, the purity of what we were upon has been clouded, so now we are in a battle, we're in a battle inside of us, we're in a battle, battling between good and evil, battling between what we know to be true spiritually, versus what the body wants us to do that is unclean, that battle is being fought in our lives, this is the time right now, we need to go back to how we were, of course you are our Lord, oh Allah, we're going to worship you, because oh Muslim, not only were you born in Arafat, not only have you been here before, you shall be here again one more time.

The Day of Resurrection on Arafat

The Prophet ﷺ told us that the Qiyamah shall take place on the plains of Arafat, the Qiyamah shall take place on the plains of Arafat, we are in sacred land right now, this is a holy place where we are, we were born here and our souls will be resurrected over here, and on that resurrection, on the day of Qiyamah, we will not be able to change the books that have been written in our names, we will not be able to alter the deeds that have been done, it is merely judgment time, but there is hope, and that hope is that right now, we can change what is in the books, right now, we can go back home and make sure the book ends on a positive chapter, on a good note.

Right now, when the time of our birth has come and the time of our resurrection, we will not control, we did not control, but now Allah has given us the ability to do good and to stay absent from evil, so before you come back to this land on Qiyamah, before you and I will be resurrected, and we will not be able to change anything that we have done, now is the time, Allah is giving you the opportunity, now is the time that Insha'Allah I'm gonna bring my book of deeds with the most positive results, and I will be of those who, when the book is handed to them right on these plains, we're gonna take that book, we're gonna jump for joy as the Quran says, we're gonna say, come my family, my friends, look, look and read my book, look at my results that Allah has given me, I was certain I'm gonna get my book back, I got my results, I passed the test of life, we're gonna be jumping for joy Insha'Allah on these plains, but only if, only if we go back with a different mindset.

The Mindset of Success

And that mindset is I want to pass the exam of Allah, I want to pass the test of life, I will be the best version of myself, where I was born, where I should be resurrected, Allah blessed me to come in for a while and to reassess my life, Allah blessed me to come in and realize why I'm here, what is my purpose, this is a blessing because this is where I came from, this is where I'm gonna return to, now I realize I have a higher purpose, now I realize I must do the best that I can, so after this Hajj, after today of the day of Arafah, you will go back home Insha'Allah to be a totally new version of yourself, the best version you couldn't even have imagined, the greatest version of yourself by the blessings of Allah.

The Day of Forgiveness and Renewal

Oh Muslim, today is the day of Arafah, it is the day of dua, it is the day of istighfar, it is the day of forgiveness, we want to go home on a clean slate, on a brand new piece of paper, nothing written on it, SubhanAllah, when we buy some new furniture, we buy a new car, we are so careful, no stain falls on it, we are so careful, don't even drink coffee in my new car, we say to our guests that come in, SubhanAllah, forget your car, your scroll of good deeds is absolutely clean, how could you stain your scroll of good deeds, your entire book, all of the negative has been taken out and the positive remains, can you believe the gift Allah is giving you, you have an entire book of good deeds and no bad deeds.

Why would you stay in your book of now with bad deeds when you go back home, you have been given a new rebirth, this is a version 2.0, all the good, none of the bad, what more do you want, all the positives, none of the negatives, Allah has blessed you with this hajj, Allah has allowed you the opportunity to go to places and lengths you could never even imagine, so oh Muslim, when you return back home, then Insha'Allah you and I will strive to be the best that we can, to be the utmost best worshippers of Allah.

The Essence of Islam in Two Principles

And the entirety of this religion, oh Muslim, can be summarized in two simple sentences, do not complicate the religion, I will summarize for you the whole of Islam, if you follow it, you will enter Firdaws Al-A'la:

Number one, worship Allah with as much love as you can, worship Allah with as much humility and sincerity as you can, worship Allah with as much good deeds as you can do of Salah, of Zakah, of Sadaqah, of reciting Quran, number one, worship Allah from the depths of your heart with as much love as you can.

And number two, be as good to as many people as you can, that is it, that is the religion of Islam, vertical, horizontal, be as pious as you can to Allah in your private life, your prayer, your Zikr, your Salah, your rituals, and then be as good as you can to as many people as you can, that is it, dear Muslims, that is the religion of Islam.

Anybody who makes it more complicated, they are making it more complicated for no reason, the rest is all footnotes, the rest is all footnotes, if you follow this simple example, this simple principle, worship Allah from the depths of your hearts, and benefit as many people as you can, not only are you a Muslim, you are the most pious Muslim, and you can enter the highest levels of Jannah, the rest of the footnotes, leave to the scholars to discuss, leave to the Ulama to spend their lives, that's great, but as the average Muslim, that's all you need to do, be good to Allah, be good to mankind, that is the religion of Islam.

Gratitude for Our Blessings

Dear Muslims, looking at the reality of the world today, it would not be correct to stop this Khutbah without reminding ourselves of the blessings Allah has given us, of how fortunate and privileged we are to have not seen what so many other people have seen, there are so many Muslims struggling, civil war has engulfed bombs have fallen on them, they cannot eat and drink in peace, many people have lost the entirety of their families, entire families have been gone, so many places of the world, our brothers and sisters in Gaza for the last two years, are demonstrating their patience, they're demonstrating their perfection of Iman, and not only that region, across the world, whether it is in the Xinjiang province, or the East Turkestan province, whether it is here, whether it is there, across the world.

And Allah has blessed us to be safe from all of this, Allah has blessed us to be able to have surplus of food, of drink, of wealth, of health, Allah has blessed us to live lives of comfort and luxury, Allah has blessed us to come to His holy land, not just on Hajj, but on one of the most comfortable packages, and that is a blessing from Allah, we thank Allah for those blessings, but with blessings comes shukr, with privilege comes responsibility.

If Allah blesses you, take it, don't reject Allah's blessings, thank Allah, but when Allah chooses you, your heart should be full of humility and shukr, when Allah opens His doors upon you, such that you become not the top 10%, not the top 1%, the top 0.1% of the judge, that is me and you right now, you and I know this, when Allah has blessed us to this level, then make sure your hearts are full of humility, of shukr, of gratitude, because we don't want to follow the example of Iblis, we don't want to follow the example of Firaun, we don't want to follow the example of Qarun, we thank Allah for Allah's blessings, and that thanks should be translated into gratitude and humility.

Remembering the Farewell Sermon

Dear Muslims, we conclude by reminding ourselves, today, today, 1445 years ago, the Prophet ﷺ gave the most important Khutbah of his life, the Khutbahul Wada', go read that Khutbah all over again, in it he summarizes the essence of Islam, he reminds people to worship Allah alone, he reminds them to not infringe on the rights of other people, do not hurt other people, do not slander other people, do not steal from other people, he reminds them of earning halal and seeking refuge from earning haram, he reminds them of the rights of the spouse and of children.

And he spoke to a whole group of men, the women were inside, I will say to you exactly what he said to them, he said to them, fear Allah with regards to your wives, this was one of the sentences he said in front of the largest gathering of men, over a hundred thousand, he said fear Allah, you have to answer to Allah, in the privacy of your houses nobody knows what's going on, Allah knows, fear Allah with regards to how you treat your wives, Allah will ask you about how you have treated your wives, how you have treated your children.

Oh Muslim living in the West, family is the backbone of society, I remind you, I encourage you, I warn you about going against the rights of Allah when it comes to the family, be loving to your spouse and partner, be loving to your children, that is one of the most important mechanisms of preserving Iman, this is summarized all in the Khutbah al-Wada, the Khutbah that the Prophet ﷺ gave on these lands.

The Day of Du'a

Oh Muslim, today is the day of Arafah, today is the day of Dua, today is the day of forgiveness, today is the day of asking Allah for all the good of this world and the next, so utilize this day, take advantage of this day and make sure of the Duas that you make, you make Dua for the entirety of the Ummah, mention specific places by name, mention specific peoples by name, make Dua that Allah gives them peace, that Allah makes good, easy for them their situation and of course remember yourselves and your spouses and especially your progeny to come, your children and your grandchildren, your great-grandchildren, you do not know the impact of a Dua right now might impact a great-great-grandchild a hundred years from now that you will never meet, but you make Dua for them here and now.

Like the Prophet Ibrahim made Dua close by and as a result of that Allah blessed us with the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, make Dua for the good of this world and the next, make Dua for the blessings of this world and the next and let us conclude by making our own Dua:

Oh Allah bring Izzah to Islam in all the places of this world, oh Allah, help our Muslim brothers and sisters in Gaza, oh Allah, help them in Syria, oh Allah, help them in Burma, oh Allah, help them in China, oh Allah, help all oppressed Muslims across the world, oh Allah, make their lives easy for them, oh Allah, grant them food, oh Allah, grant them drink, oh Allah, protect them from the evils of those that oppose them, those that are trying to kill them, oh Allah, oh Allah, bring Izzah to Islam through us and our deeds, oh Allah, make us role model Muslims wherever we are, oh Allah, make us of the righteous, oh Allah, make us of the people of the Qur'an, oh Allah, make the Qur'an seep into our hearts, oh Allah, allow us to...

Be the people of the Qur'an, oh Allah, oh Allah, allow the love of the Prophet ﷺ to be our motivational factor to follow his sunnah, oh Allah, oh Allah, allow our friends and neighbors and relatives to see the beauty of Islam in our manners and akhlaq, oh Allah, oh Allah, allow us to become keys of good for all of them, oh Allah, oh Allah, bless us with righteous children, oh Allah, bless us with righteous spouses, oh Allah, oh Allah, make our children and their children after them and their children after them upon iman and taqwa, oh Allah, oh Allah, protect our children from every evil, oh Allah, oh Allah, protect them from every fahisha, oh Allah, protect them from every drug and every single substance of evil, oh Allah, protect them from evil friends, oh Allah, oh Allah, make our children and their progeny strong upon iman, oh Allah, make them of those who establish salah, oh Allah, make them of those who love and believe in the Qur'an, oh Allah, make them of those who love the sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, oh Allah, protect us from the evil of those that desire to harm us, oh Allah, oh Allah, through our actions show the love of Islam to those around us, oh Allah, make us of those who preach Islam through our actions more than our speech, oh Allah, oh Allah, guide us to the best of all manners, guide us to the best of all akhlaq, because none can guide except you, and oh Allah, remove from us all evil manners, remove from us arrogance, oh Allah, remove from us lust, oh Allah, remove from us greed, oh Allah, remove from us showing off, oh Allah, oh Allah, we ask you for pure hearts, oh Allah, grant us pure hearts, oh Allah, grant us hearts upon taqwa, oh Allah, oh Allah, when our time has come to leave this dunya, we beg you, oh Allah, to be allowed to say the kalima of لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله, oh Allah, make the last words that we utter before we leave this world be the words of لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله, oh Allah, do not allow the angel of death to come to us until you are happy with us, oh Allah, oh Allah, only allow the angel of death to come when you are pleased with us, oh Allah, oh Allah, cause us to repent before death, cause us to repent before death, oh Allah, and allow us a sweet and easy death, oh Allah, oh Allah, grant us in the qabr, a vast qabr, oh Allah.

Du'a for the Qabr and the Afterlife

Oh Allah, we don't want a dark qabr, we want a light qabr, oh Allah. Enlighten our qabr, oh Allah. Oh Allah, do not make our qabrs a tight place, make them a vast place, oh Allah. Allow us to smell the fragrances of Jannah in our qabr, oh Allah.

Ya Allah, we'll be alone in our qabr. Bless us with the companionship of angels, oh Allah. Do not allow us to be alone in the qabr, where we will be tired, where we'll be hungry, where we'll be scared. Oh Allah, do not put us in fear in the qabr, oh Allah. Make the qabr a place out of Jannah and not a place out of Jahannam, oh Allah.

Prayer for the Day of Judgment

Oh Allah, resurrect us on the Day of Judgment under Your shade, when there is no shade other than Your shade. Oh Allah, grant us Your shade on the Day of Judgment, oh Allah. Oh Allah, make the scales of deeds of the good side heavy for us, oh Allah. Oh Allah, make us pass Your test with ease, oh Allah. Oh Allah, do not account us an accounting that will destroy us, oh Allah. Give us an easy accounting, oh Allah.

Oh Allah, allow the Prophet ﷺ to recognize us from the wudu and the signs of wudu. Oh Allah, we beg You that the Prophet ﷺ recognizes us and invites us to drink from his fountain. Ya Allah, we want to drink from the fountain of the Prophet ﷺ, ya Allah. Ya Allah, on that day when we are thirsty, we beg You to allow us to drink from the hawd, from the kawthar of the Prophet ﷺ.

Ya Allah, cause us to enter Jannah بغير حساب (bighayri hisab), ya Allah. Ya Allah, cause us to pass over the Sirat swiftly, quickly. Ya Allah, do not cause us to trip on the Sirat, ya Allah. Do not cause us to fall on the Sirat, ya Allah. Ya Allah, cause us to enter Jannah بغير حساب (bighayri hisab), ya Allah.

Ya Allah, we beg You to be in the companionship of the Prophet ﷺ, ya Allah. Ya Allah, grant us his shafa'ah on the Day of Judgment, ya Allah. Ya Allah, grant us his shafa'ah on the Day of Judgment, ya Allah.

Seeking Forgiveness and Mercy

Ya Allah, our sins are many, our good deeds are few. Ya Allah, we come to You, not because we are worthy, but because You are ذو الجلال والإكرام (Dhul-Jalali wal-Ikram). You are أرحم الراحمين (Arham ar-Rahimin). You are the الكريم (Kareem) and the المنان (Mannan).

Ya Allah, our sins are many. Ya Allah, our sins are many. Ya Allah, our deeds are few. But You are the one that forgives the sins, ya Allah. Ya Allah, You forgive sins because You are the العفو (Afu). And You love to forgive, ya Allah.

We come to You with the full deeds of evils, ya Allah. But You are the الغفور (Ghafoor). You are the الغفار (Ghaffar). You are the الرحمن (Rahman). You are the الرحيم (Rahim). You are the العفو (Afu). Erase our evil, ya Rabb. Erase our sins, ya Rabb.

Ya Allah, wipe away every sin we have ever done, ya Rabb, on this day. Ya Allah, forgive our sins, ya Allah. Forgive the big sins and the small sins. Forgive the public sins and the private sins. Forgive the intentional sins and the unintentional sins. Ya Allah, forgive every sin we have ever done and every sin we will ever do, ya Allah.

Prayer for Righteousness and Piety

Ya Allah, grant us piety, ya Allah. Grant us piety, ya Allah. Make piety beloved to us, ya Allah. Make us of the الصالحين (salihin), ya Allah. Ya Allah, give us sweet worship, ya Allah. Allow us to taste the sweetness of worship.

Ya Allah, avert from us the evil of liking to do sins, ya Allah. Ya Allah, make sins hated to us, ya Allah. Ya Allah, make us disgusted by the thought of committing sins, ya Allah. Ya Allah, grant us the sweetness of iman where we love worshipping You and we love turning to You, ya Allah.

Ya Allah, grant us to be of the people of the Qur'an. Grant us to love the Qur'an. Grant us to be of those who recite the Qur'an. Grant us to be of those who memorize the Qur'an. Grant us to be of the أصحاب القرآن (Ashab al-Qur'an), ya Allah.

Ya Allah, make us of the people of tahajjud, ya Allah. Allow tahajjud to be easy for us, ya Allah. Allow us to love to wake up in the middle of the night, ya Allah. To lower our heads to You, ya Allah. To ask You for all good, ya Allah.

Prayer for Family and Protection

Ya Allah, make us of the الصالحين (salihin), ya Allah. Grant us righteous progeny, ya Allah. Grant us righteous wives and spouses, ya Allah. Grant us righteous grandchildren, ya Allah.

Ya Allah, do not burden us with a burden that is beyond our test, ya Allah. Do not show us in our families and our children that which will harm us, ya Allah. Avert from our families, avert from our children any calamities, ya Allah. Do not show us in our families and our children and our health that which will harm us, ya Allah.

Ya Allah, we are weak, ya Allah. We are weak, ya Allah. Do not burden us with more than what we can bear, ya Allah. Do not burden us with a test that we will fail, ya Allah. عافيتك (Aafiyatak), ya Allah. عافيتك (Aafiyatak), ya Allah. عافيتك (Aafiyatak), ya Allah.

Rabbana, atina fi dunya hasana, wa fil akhirati hasana, wa qina athab an-naar.

Final Supplication

Accept our duas on this day of Arafah, ya Allah. Accept our duas, ya Allah. Forgive us all of our sins, ya Allah. Forgive us all of our evil, ya Allah. Make us of the people of Jannah on this day, ya Allah. أنت أرحم الراحمين (Anta urhamur rahimin), ya Allah.

We do not trust our good deeds, we trust your mercy, ya Allah. We do not trust anything we have done, we only trust you, ya Allah. You are the الكريم (Kareem), you are the المنان (Manan), you are the العزيز (Aziz), you are the الغفور (Ghafoor), ya Allah.

We come to you, we come to you with a heart full of evil and sins, but we turn to you for repentance. We turn to you for cleaning that evil. We turn to you because you can purify our hearts, ya Allah. Ya Allah, allow us to return back safe and sound, with pure hearts, with good iman and taqwa, and to be agents of change for positive, ya Allah.
