Nasheed AI Retreat — Introduction

Inshallah we will begin our next session which is a nasheed recital done by our dear student of the Takmil program and the Tanweer program, Ilyas. Inshallah this nasheed will be a rendering, a praise of Allah Ta'ala and His Messenger as well. We ask that everyone listen quietly, assume their positions, sit as close as possible and listen in.

A Reflection on This Gathering

One small sentiment that was recently shared regarding this retreat — this is commonly shared, I remember this was commonly shared about weddings before — people say the same thing, they always say this one line: "You'll never see this same group of people in one room ever again." It's a two-way statement, and in one way it is correct, and I think we can apply it to this retreat.

This retreat's purpose was to bring together the professionals that exist in the Muslim world — the Islamic scholars that exist, the different historians as we just heard, Dr. Waleed who is an expert in his field. We have the muftis that have been working on these projects for these last few months, and obviously all their projects for these last few years. This is a perfect amalgamation of what the Muslim project looks like when everyone's skills are utilized to uplift the Muslim ummah in every aspect.

So if you yourself have a certain skill — you are a marketer, you have some certain skill that you can give to Islam, you're a physician, you're an AI scientist — Alhamdulillah, this retreat proves that all of them fit within the Islamic paradigm. So just as we are gathered today, let us make sure that that quote is not repeated again. Let us continue to meet together over and over again, gather, network with one another, bring our skills together, and uplift this Muslim ummah.

The Power of Nasheed and Melody

One such skill, just as Junaid mentioned, is the skill and the art of nasheed. Melody brings a sort of movement to the heart. It strikes a person — the Qur'an is recited with melody, and any sort of nasheed or recital enables things that have beautiful meaning to enter the heart beautifully as well.

So I now call upon Ilyas to deliver this nasheed to us.
