Instructions for Salatul Eid

Salatul Eid consists of two rakahs but those two rakahs are prayed a little bit differently. After the first takbeera I will make six more takbeeras and then I will start recitation and then when I get up from the sajda, second sajda to the second rakah other than the Allahu Akbar that I say takbeerat al intiqal I will make five more takbeeras and then I will start the recitation and after that, there will be a short khutba bi'idhnillah.

First Rakah - Al-Fatiha and Surah Qaf

The Sacrifice of Our Brothers and Sisters

Dear respected beloved brothers and sisters, I ask Allah Azza wa Jal who gathered us in this masjid to gather us next year on Arafah. Ameen Ya Rabbil Alameen.

In this day of sacrifice, we have seen our brothers and sisters all over the world sacrificing everything for A female doctor in the hospital in Gaza, she saw bodies coming. She uncovered the first, it was her son. She uncovered the second, it was her daughter. She uncovered the third, it was her other son. And so on until she saw nine of her children dead. A few days later, she got the news that her husband also passed away. This woman, she has exemplified unwavering faith, accepting the decree of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and submitting to his hikmah.

And millions of others in our dear Gaza are suffering daily. This Eid comes to them in a state that they are hungry. Their neighboring countries have abandoned them. The sacrifice also from our brothers in Africa, our brothers and sisters in Yemen, in Burma. They are sacrificing and facing the challenges of basic necessities of food and water.

Our Struggles and Mission

While we here in the United States, we are suffering from the Islamophobia. Which stems from misconceptions and ignorance about our beautiful deen that promotes compassion and justice. My brothers and sisters, every single one of us should be a messenger of this deen. By the way they interact with others, by the way they carry themselves, by improving our manners.

My brothers and sisters, the attempts to destroy this deen are not new. They started from Abu Jahl and they will continue till the day of judgment. But all these attempts have certainty, they will all fail. Just like they have failed in the past, they will also fail now and in the future.

Tests Separate Truth from Falsehood

These tests, they come to separate the truthful from the fake. The truthful will be saved and the sick-hearted will fail. Be patient and know that Rasulullah ﷺ told us that there will come a day, the one holding to his deen is like the one holding to a burning coal, burning fire.

What happens around us, sadness, and the image you see will pain you. But know for a fact that these feelings are healthy. These feelings show that you still have faith rooted in your heart.

Do Not Be Deceived by Numbers

And do not be deceived by the few people, do not be deceived by the number of few people that are walking in the path of the truth, nor be deceived by the huge number that are taking the path of falsehood. You are the jama'ah even if you are alone. The people of Ibrahim called him fatha, they're degrading him. He's just a fatha. And Allah said:

Ibrahim by himself, he was a nation, alayhis salam. So do not say, everyone's doing it, everyone's failing. So yallah, I will join. No. Live as a ghareeb, like Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.

And know that if you leave this caravan of goodness, you are the only one who will be in loss. Being in that caravan is a gift from Allah azza wa jal that He has bestowed upon you. Leaving it is the ultimate loss.

Our Purpose in This Life

My beloved brothers and sisters, imagine someone going to a company and you ask him, what do you do in this company? What's your job? Imagine he's saying, I have no clue. This is impossible. Ya Ikhwan, my beloved brothers and sisters, our job in this dunya is one.

And I want myself and you to ask ourselves, are we fulfilling that job? The job is:

My brothers and sisters, we are only here to worship Allah azza wa jal. Worshipping Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala does not mean staying in the masjid 24x7. It means the way you treat your wife, the way you treat your husband, the way you raise your children, the way you do business, the way you interact with your neighbor, the way you walk, the way you talk, the way you laugh, the way you eat. All of that could be a ibadah. What major you are studying is a form of ibadah. We are here to worship Allah azza wa jal.

Wake Up and Come Back to Allah

So if you feel that you are not doing your job, immediately, ya akhi, my brother, my sister, wake up and come back to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. The brother we buried yesterday was 25 years old. Wallahi ya akhwan, wake up.

Many of you, many of you, come to the masjid twice a year, only in two Eid. Why, ya akhi, what did Allah do to you, so you don't visit Him except twice a year? You know that He is so happy to see you when you come? Rasulallah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam told us that Allah yatabashbash, He is so happy when you come and pray in the masjid.

Make a promise from today that you will increase your visits to the masjid, that you will increase your closeness to Allah azza wa jal. You will start praying every salat on time. Why did we pick the salat of the Eid and we neglected the five daily salawat?

I love you for the sake of Allah, my brother, my sister. Please come back to Allah. You do not know the angel of death. He will never send you a text, or a phone call, or an email that I'm coming. He comes, baghta, sudden, and He will take our soul. And then we will tell Him, please give me some more time. And He will say, كلا, it's too late.

Make Eid Special for Your Children

My brothers and sisters, make this day a very special day for your children. Show them that today is different than yesterday. Today and the Eid of the Fitr, make them feel, make them look forward for these days. Make it very, very special.

Because we are so good, perfect, professional, PhD, in saying haram, haram, haram, haram. And what is the alternative? Allah gave us those two Eids. Take advantage of them. Show them the love. Show them that we also celebrate. We also can have fun, halal fun. Show them that. They think that we are very strict in everything. Our deen is very complicated. Wallahi, it is the most beautiful, simple deen. We are the ones who are complicating it. Because we want to follow our desire.

Du'a for Our Ummah

My beloved brothers and sisters, in this blessed day, while many of our brothers and sisters all over the world are suffering, I beg you, I beg you, to constantly, constantly keep them in your dua. Ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to relieve their stress and their anxiety and their grief. Ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to help them. Ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to forgive our shortcomings towards them. Ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that if we are ever in this situation, for Allah to send us people that will make dua for us.

May you be well every year. May Allah accept your Eid Mubarak.
