The Unique Blessing of Our Prophet ﷺ

One day the companions of the Prophet ﷺ were sitting down and having a casual discussion. The companions remarked that we know that our Habib ﷺ is Khatam-ul-Anbiya, Sayyid-ul-Mursaleen, Imam-ul-Atqiyah — he is the greatest human, the greatest Prophet — and Allah has honored him in ways that nobody else has ever been honored. However, it is quite interesting that Allah has chosen Adam ﷺ to be his first creation.

And then it's quite interesting that He has taken Ibrahim as His close friend. And it's quite interesting that He has made Musa ﷺ Kaleemullah. And it's quite interesting that He has given Isa ﷺ the power of bringing people back to life and made him Ruhullah.

And as they're speaking about this, the Prophet ﷺ emerges. And as he comes into the gathering, the Sahabah stop. And the Prophet ﷺ looks at them and he smiles and he says:

"I have heard your speech, your statements, and I have also been able to pick up on your astonishment and your intrigue."

How is it so that I am the Prophet of Allah, the greatest Prophet, and these Prophets have been given such trademark values and qualities that perhaps I don't have? He then says, let me tell you — it is true:

That yes, Allah has chosen Adam as Safiyyullah, and Ibrahim as Khalilullah, and Musa as Kalimullah, and Isa as Ruhullah.

"But I am the Beloved of Allah, and I say this without pride."

The Meaning of Being the Beloved of Allah

And what does it mean that I am the Beloved of Allah? It means:

That Allah has raised my remembrance. One day Jibreel ﷺ comes to the Prophet ﷺ and he says to him, "O Prophet of Allah, do you know how my Lord and your Lord has raised your rank and has raised your remembrance?" He said:

"Only Allah knows how He has chosen to raise my remembrance and how He has chosen to raise my rank." Jibreel ﷺ responds and he says:

"Allah has said: It can never happen that I am remembered except that you are remembered with me."

That is your honor.

The Honors of the Prophet ﷺ on the Day of Judgment

"I am the Habib of Allah, and in my hand there will be the flag of praising Allah on the Day of Judgment — and I have no pride in it."

On the Day of Judgment, when everyone will be turning towards different prophets, the entirety of mankind and humanity will turn towards our Habib ﷺ. And he will become the flag bearer of Hamd where he will go under the Arsh of Allah, and fall into Sajdah and praise Allah. And he will ask Allah to start Hisab. And Allah will say to him:

"O Muhammad, raise your head. Ask and you shall be given. Intercede and your intercession shall be accepted."

Then the Prophet ﷺ also mentions:

"I will be the greatest creation — the greatest son of Adam on the Day of Judgment — and there is no pride for me in that."

Then the Prophet ﷺ also mentions that on the Day of Judgment, I will come knocking on the doors of Jannah. And the doorkeeper of Jannah will say:

"Who is this knocking on the doors of Jannah?" And I will respond:

"I am Muhammad, the Prophet of Allah ﷺ." And the doorkeeper will respond:

"I have been ordered and commanded that I shall not open the blessed doors of Jannah until you come knocking." Because the first person that will come knocking, and the first person that will enter these blessed gates of Jannah, will be our Habib ﷺ.

The Announcement at His Birth — From Al-Khasa'is al-Kubra

To captivate and to encapsulate the honor, the characteristics, the traits, and the qualities of our Habib ﷺ — in a narration found in Al-Khasa'is al-Kubra, it is mentioned that when the Prophet of Allah ﷺ was born and he came into this world, into the realm of this world, a caller called out and it said:

The caller called out and announced: "Take this person — take his legacy, take his honor — and spread it across the world so that the world can know who has come today. Let them know about his qualities, let them know about his justice, let them know about his beauty, let them know about his legacy."

And Imam Suyuti rahimahullah mentions that this command — this amr — is still present and it should still be present in our life today. People should know that we are the Muhammadis, the Ummatis of our Muhammad ﷺ. We walk around spreading his legacy. We walk around spreading his Sunnah. We walk around spreading his name.

Blessed with the Qualities of Every Prophet

And then the caller calls out and says:

The caller calls out and he says: "Grant this person the character of Adam, the recognition of Sheeth, the friendship of Ibrahim, the obedience of Ismail, the eloquence of Salih, the wisdom of Lut, the power of Musa, the struggle of Yusha, the love of Daniyal, the dignity of Yunus, the beauty of Dawud, the kingdom of Sulaiman, the Zuhud of Isa — bless him, enshroud him, shower him with the qualities of every single prophet."

And this is who our Habib ﷺ is.

Our Duty: Learning His Seerah

My dear brothers, friends and sisters — let it not be that another year goes by, that another day goes by, and we are still foreign to the Seerah, to the life of the greatest man, the greatest human that has ever stepped foot on the surface of this earth. Rather, we should try to dedicate whatever time we have, whatever moments we have, to learn his life. Because by learning his life — learning about him and knowing about him — is truly loving him. Bringing his Sunnah into our life, speaking about him, is actually a form of enlightening our life.

The poet says:

"I have not praised the Prophet of Allah ﷺ through my words of praise — through my words that I am using to talk about our Habib. Rather, my statements have been garnished through his beauty."

By just mentioning his name, we don't create or give honor to our Habib by learning about him, by speaking about him, by bringing his Sunnah into our life. But rather our home is decorated through his Sunnahs. Our life is decorated through his Sunnahs. Our education is honored through the Sunnah and through the life of the Prophet ﷺ.

Teaching Our Children the Seerah

Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas would say to his companions:

"We would teach our children the life and the Seerah — the struggles, the ups and downs of the life of our Prophet ﷺ — with the same importance and significance as teaching them a chapter of the Qur'an."

May Allah allow us to immerse ourselves in the blessed life of the Prophet, to learn about him, and then to love him, and to bring his Sunnah into our life.
