Allah Wants You to Spend Like This
- Allah commands us to spend from the 'Tayyibat' – the best of what we have.

- Is this the standard Allah expects from us?
The 'Second-Hand' Mentality
- Our habit: donating items we no longer need or use.
- Charity shops are filled with used goods, not brand new.
- This mindset often extends to what we offer in the path of Allah.
Attaining Righteousness
- This verse sets a profound condition for achieving 'Al-Birr' (righteousness).
- It's not just about giving, but about the quality and value of what is given.
- Our sincerity is tested by our willingness to part with what we cherish.
The Challenge: Giving What You Love Most
- Reflect deeply: What item or possession do you love the most?
- The Quran challenges us to consider giving away our prized possessions.
- This act signifies a higher level of sacrifice and devotion to Allah.
Identifying Your Prized Possessions
- For some, it's their latest smartphone or gadget.
- For others, it might be their car, a specific collection, or designer clothes.
- The spiritual exercise: Try giving away something you truly value for Allah's sake.
Allah Wants You to Spend Like This
When Allah is asking us to spend, specifically He's saying don't spend anything. Spend from the Tayyibat — the best of what you have. Tell me, when we go to the charity shop or when we go to the recycling, what kind of stuff goes to the charity shop? Brand new clothes? Used, second hand.
We've become used to this idea that what we give to Allah has to be the second hand stuff, the stuff we don't need anymore. But Allah tells us:
"You will never attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love."
What do you love the most? Try giving it away.
What item do you love the most? Your prized possession. Some people, they're really into phones. Some people are really into their cars. Some people are really into certain clothes. Try giving it away.
