The Biggest Losers: Surah Al-Kahf

Allah takes all of their deeds and he makes them zero in one go. These are the biggest losers. Allah says — shall I tell you who are the biggest losers?

"Say: Shall we inform you of the greatest losers in respect of their deeds? Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life while they thought that they were acquiring good by their deeds."

Those people — all the while in this world — they thought they were doing good. They thought they were going to be fine on the Day of Judgment. They thought that they worship, they thought that the assistance of their family, they thought that they work, they thought, they imagined it was all for the sake of Allah — but they lied to themselves. And they will only find out this on the Day of Judgment. They were deceived.

They deceived themselves. They thought they were working for Allah but really they were serving themselves. They thought they were earning for the sake of Allah but really they were obsessed with their own desires. May Allah never make you and I from amongst them.

The people who thought they were fine, they thought they were safe — but they are not safe. These are the people who pretended to believe, but really, deep down, they had no shred of belief in Allah or in His meeting. Allah takes all of their deeds and He makes them zero in one go.

These are the biggest losers. Their deeds — their good deeds — became zero. They didn't even realize. They don't even need to be accounted for on the Day of Judgment. They don't need a scale. They don't need a weighing. They don't need to be asked — because they are zero. They are the biggest losers.

This is the consequence of being deceived in this world. This is the ultimate consequence. If we become cheated by these four things, we will become the biggest of losers.
