Salat al-Tawbah: The Prayer of Repentance

The Prophet ﷺ used to say:

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith 1521; also referenced in Sahih al-Bukhari, Book 80, Hadith 19)

Whoever does wudu, goes and does ablution, and does it beautifully, and prays two units of prayer — asking Allah's forgiveness, sincerely, with no partners — except Allah would forgive whatever they have asked for.

This, the scholars call Salat al-Tawbah — the prayer of repentance, or return to Allah.

Two rak'ahs. It takes 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes — but it's only two rak'ahs, two units of prayer — after which you need to feel like a newborn baby who has been cleansed of all of their mistakes.

Salat al-Tawbah.
