Summary
The Call to Reflection
- Allah asks us a profound question in the Quran.
- Are we truly reflecting on its verses?
- What is the consequence if we fail to do so?
The Consequence: Locked Hearts
- If we don't reflect, our hearts become locked.
- Locked from what? From the guidance of Allah.
- This means the divine light cannot penetrate our inner selves.
Beyond Recitation & Memorization
- Many of us recite or even memorize the entire Quran.
- However, does this recitation or memorization affect our actions?
- Without reflection, it may have no real impact on our lives.
Real Life Impact
- If we've never thought about its meaning, it has no effect.
- Our actions remain unchanged, our character unrefined.
- This is a clear sign that our hearts are locked from Allah's guidance.
The Unacted Upon Quran
- How many people do we know who memorized the entire Quran?
- Yet, they don't act on a single word within it.
- This is a sobering reality and a stark reminder for all of us.
"Why don't they reflect on the Qur'an? Or are their hearts locked up?"
This verse gives us the consequence. If we don't reflect on the Qur'an, if we don't know what it means — what's the consequence of that? It means your heart and my heart is locked up from the guidance of Allah. Can you imagine? That one of us might recite or might memorize the Qur'an, but that recitation and that memorization has no effect on our actions.
We've never thought about what it means. It had no effect on our real life. That means our heart is locked up from Allah's guidance.
May Allah protect all of us. And how many a person we know — you might know — a person who's memorized the entire Qur'an, but they don't act on a single word that is within it. And how many of us does that reflect on our lives as well?
