Imagine if Allah didn't know what you're about to do and he didn't decree it to happen. That means Allah is deficient — there is no possible worldview without Qadr. And appreciating that, if you look at the life of Yusuf عليه السلام, the names of Allah are what keeps him going — in the well, in the prison, in the palace.

And the last sentence his father says to him is: Allah knows and he is wise. Doesn't see his son for 40 years. That sentence keeps his son going.

And at every opportunity — and especially at the end of the story — Yusuf عليه السلام took his family, they all come back. And Yusuf عليه السلام sitting there is thinking about Allah. How kind Allah was to me.

Not: how horrible — Allah put me in prison. But: how kind Allah was to me. He took me out of prison.

And Allah brought you all back here — and it was the Shaytan, not my brothers; the Shaytan created an issue between me and my brothers. How subtle Allah is in his ways. How knowledgeable Allah is. How wise.

The Secret to Healing

So the names of Allah — without the names of Allah, you cannot make sense of anything. The secret to making sense of, and healing through, the challenges of life is knowing Allah and understanding his knowledge and his wisdom and attaching to him. That is the surfboard — to give an Australian analogy.
