“The Way I Look At Qur’an…”

The key thing that fueled my relationship with the Qur'an until to this day, to this moment, is seeing the Qur'an as a manual that I need every day. There's no other way for me to live life. There's a vacuum in my life that's empty.

It's not filled by anything other than the Qur'an, by the guidance of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Like I'll give you an example. Today, I was on a flight here from Brisbane. And I haven't slept. I haven't slept at night, and I'm on a flight, and I've got four events today, and I'm exhausted.

So I'm thinking — the way I look at the Qur'an — I see the surahs of the Qur'an as prescription medicine. So I'm sat there, I'm thinking, what do I need right now? I need Surah Nuh, because Nuh عليه السلام — like if I think I'm tired on a flight — he made da'wah for 950 years, and he still lost his son. So right now, I need Surah Nuh.

Sometimes, I need Surah Al-'Ankabut. Other times, I need Surah Ar-Rum. Some days, it's Surah Ali 'Imran.

That's how I see the Qur'an — the meanings of the Qur'an are like prescription medicine for me. Every day, depending on what I need, I know what I need, and depending on that — you know how you go to a doctor, you say, look, I've got this symptom, I'm struggling with this — I come to the Qur'an like that.

And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gives me — there's an ayah, there's a surah for everybody.
