How to Become the Greatest Worshipper of Allah?
If we struggle with staying away from sins, sometimes we think to ourselves that doing good is the only way of earning the pleasure of Allah. But rather contrary to that, there is a hadith where a Sahabi asked the Prophet, peace be upon him:
"How can I become the greatest worshipper of Allah?" Like, how do I become the best of the best? You would think the Prophet would say: pray Salah every single night in Tahajjud, fast every single day, or fast every other day.
But the Prophet, peace be upon him, told him:
(Sunan Ibn Mājah, Hadith 4217; also reported by al-Tirmidhī)
"Stay away from things that are haram, and you will become the greatest worshipper."
Protecting Ourselves from Sin in Difficult Times
Now when we have more free time at home, sometimes it becomes easier to gossip, easier to look at haram, easier to listen to haram. In these difficult times, if we are able to protect ourselves from those sins, the reward of protecting ourselves from those same sins — during a normal time or a normal situation — would have been less.
The reward is greater now, because it is harder to do.
The Prayers Most Difficult Upon the Hypocrites
What is the Salah that, if we do not pray it, it becomes a sign of a Munafiq (hypocrite)? Salatul Fajr and Salatul Isha were the most difficult prayers upon the Munafiqoon, because they are the more difficult prayers to stand up for in front of Allah. And therefore, the reward for them is different.
