Ramadan: The Month of Relief — Episode 1: The Commencement of Wahy

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

The first event that we will highlight in this series — that took place in the month of Ramadan and manifests and displays the great relief and peace that Allah has embodied all throughout the month of Ramadan — is the beautiful and the blessed ascension of Wahy (revelation) upon the blessed heart of the Prophet.

The Revelation of the Quran in Ramadan

The revelation of the Quran in itself took place in the month of Ramadan, and the Mufassirun (exegetes) have an ijma' (consensus) that the Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadan, making it the first auspicious event and the first special event which took place in the month of Ramadan — an event which indeed is the greatest source of peace, relief, and victory for the Muslims.

The Quran as a Source of Relief

Anyone that is struggling in their life with any form of depression, any form of hardship — Allah tells us that we can find the source and we can find the relief of that in the Quran. The tunnel that opens up is the Quran; the roadblock which is there in our life, the opening to that is the Quran; and the Fatiha for all the difficulties of our life is the Quran.

The Descent of the Wahy

So the first event which points to the fact that the month of Ramadan is a month of relief, victory, and peace was the fact that the Quran in itself was revealed in the month of Ramadan — the descent from Ilm Allah (the Knowledge of Allah) to the Lawh al-Mahfuz (the Preserved Tablet), and the descent from there to the heart of the Prophet, took place in the month of Ramadan.

And this tells us and expounds for us the beautiful relief and peace that we can find for ourselves in the month of Ramadan. By opening up the Quran and reading the verses of the Quran, we will also find that relief, insha'Allah.
