The Power of Prophetic Prayers — Ramadan 2025

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Yesterday and the past couple of days, we were speaking about the prayers for forgiveness.

And this is the book that I've been going through, or just started. We read the introduction and the foreword. And the importance of spending in the month of Ramadan — in this last week that we have — is that a person needs to ask Allah to make him aware of his or her flaws and faults.

And when a person is doing ibadah, is fasting, is in the month of Ramadan, is doing I'tikaf — however, they are still engaged in lots of flaws and faults, mistakes, could be in terms of financial flaws, could be in their relationships with one another. These are flaws and faults that a person may have.

But unless and until a person is aware of it, and recognizes and realizes what mistakes they are making... MashaAllah. Especially those who are going to be in I'tikaf regularly — someone has gifted this beautiful notebook, pocket size, with its own pen. May Allah reward them immensely.

And may Allah give tawfiq to whoever takes it, to actually fill it up. So I see this brother here, MashaAllah, he is writing. Few other brothers, MashaAllah, are writing also. Alhamdulillah.

We have so many beautiful sessions happening in these 24 hours. You cannot attend all of them, I understand that. But whatever you do attend, it would be best that we take some notes. So I'm going to leave it here. Whoever wants — I just ask that you use it. Just don't keep it, actually use it and take notes. And this will be the best return you can give to the person who is gifting this. Ameen.

Why Istighfar Matters

So, many times a person doesn't realize the mistakes they are doing — that's why they keep on doing it. So istighfar is so important to keep on cleansing ourselves from all the mistakes that we are doing. None of us are perfect, but what happens is we have these blinders that do not allow us to see our faults. This is just part of nature. We do not see our flaws and faults.

A child says, "Look, I cleaned my bedroom today, okay? So I want this." Well, he doesn't realize that in the process while he cleaned his bedroom, he made a big mess in the kitchen. Or he did not take out the garbage. Or he disrespected his parents somewhere else. So what happens? Everyone just focuses on the good that they are doing. They don't recognize what faults and flaws they have.

And because of that, what we call a khushfahmi — they have this delusion that they are taking care of everything, that they are in good shape, when they are actually not in good shape.

So this is why one of the du'as is:

اللَّهُمَّ بَصِّرْنَا عُيُوبَنَا

"Oh Allah, make us aware of our flaws." You can say this in any language. "Oh Allah, make me aware." Baṣṣir — allow me to have the basira and the foresight to be able to see my flaws. And that's a du'a we should be making.

About This Collection of 70 Istighfar

So, we read one istighfar — this is a collection of 70. Why are there 70? Anyone remember? Because the Prophet ﷺ said:

وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ فِي الْيَوْمِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً

"By Allah, I seek forgiveness from Allah and I turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 6307)

So hence we have this book that's got 70 different istighfar. Now if a person just reads the book and does not have his mind focused on it, then of course that's not going to be beneficial either. So as we are reading the translation, I want us all to focus on it.

What is a great benefit of this istighfar is that it teaches us how to ask from Allah. Yesterday, those of you who attended the khutbah, we had a du'a last night. And while you're speaking to Allah, you start realizing, "Oh, this is how I should also speak to Allah." That's a process of what we're trying to do — to learn from one another how to speak to Allah.

Du'a Number Two: Seeking Forgiveness from the Consequences of Sin

"Oh Allah, I seek Your forgiveness for every sin that invites me to Your anger, or draws me near Your displeasure, or makes me inclined to that which You have prohibited, or distances me from the bliss and success to which You have invited me."

Four things. In this du'a we went over four ramifications and bad results of sin.

The Four Evil Effects of Sin in This Du'a

Number one: يَدْعُو إِلَى غَضَبِكَ — Sin invites the anger of Allah. It brings us close to His anger.

Number two: It draws us to Allah's displeasure.

Number three: It makes me inclined to that which You have prohibited. SubhanAllah — can anyone explain what this means? When a person sins, there's more likelihood that he's going to sin again. Someone says, "I'm sinning. God is not angry at me. I haven't lost my job. I'm actually making more money. Everything is happening well. How can you say sin causes problems? There's no financial loss for me." And the answer is: did you sin today also? "Yeah, of course." So the fact that you sinned yesterday and then you're sinning today — that itself is a punishment. That the sin makes a person feel comfortable with sinning again. And that's very dangerous.

A person commits a mistake and then he repents, alhamdulillah. But when a person commits a sin and has no remorse — that person who killed 99 people, how did that start? It started off with one murder. And then the second and the third. When you read, if you ever came across a documentary or a book on serial killers, and they talk about the life of serial killers — where did it start from? You could see almost all the time, if not all the time, signs of it at a young age. Part of that is killing a cat — killing a rat or a mouse. And then doing the unthinkable, skinning it and this crazy stuff. What happens? These things lead a person to slowly become desensitized and he's able to now go to the next big thing, and the next big thing. And that's where we end up committing sins.

So, ya Allah, I seek refuge in You and I seek forgiveness from You from every single sin that makes me inclined to that which You have prohibited.

A Story on FOMO and Falling from the Esteem of Allah

For those who are here for the first time — I do share a lot of stories. After Asr, late nights, lots of stories. And the reason why I love to share stories is because I look at them as case studies. How you teach a class, you have a case study — XYZ, this happened to him, how do you deal with this? So these case studies should be a means of us connecting the dots and making us realize what are some of the pitfalls that I may have.

So one person — he fell into the swamp and ended up committing major sins, lots of womanizing basically. So I asked him, where did this all start from? And SubhanAllah, he started thinking about his life because he wasn't like this before. How did he become like this? And he realized that the life-changing experience, the moment where he switched from being a good person to becoming someone who's off the rails completely, happened in college once when some roommates came back and were talking about what a great night they had at the club, in these haram places.

This brother was a very good, clean person. He had a lot of shawq for deen, would read Qur'an a lot. He says, "I was sitting there, I didn't go with these people, my roommates. But when they told me that, in my heart, I had this feeling of sadness that I missed out. FOMO, what they call it. I had the feeling that I missed out. Gosh, I wish I had gone with them. I also could have had fun." And haram. Even though he had never done this before. He realized it was that moment when he had this desire and he cultivated this desire in his heart — "Gosh, I wish I had gone and had fun with these people."

That became literally the moment when he fell from the esteem of Allah. That instead of saying:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي عَافَانَا مِمَّا ابْتَلَاهُ بِهِ وَفَضَّلَنَا عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ تَفْضِيلاً

"All praise belongs to Allah who has protected me from the sin that these men have fallen into, and has favoured me over many of those He has created" — instead of saying that, what are you saying? "Oh, I wish I also had fallen into that sin. That sounds so cool, that sounds so fun."

He said, "That action — which itself may not seem very big, seems casual, innocent, common — how many people actually end up doing this? Not realizing the ramifications of this sin. That Allah protected you, and yet you have the guts and the audacity to say, 'Gosh, I wish I had gone there.'" He says, "I fell from the esteem of Allah." That's it. Something happened after that, and then life was never the same. SubhanAllah.

You know, Allah loves someone — this comes in hadith — Allah will even make you see a dream to protect you from sin. But there's only so much Allah will do for you. You have to also do something for yourself. So this person had a dream of Umar al-Khattab radiallahu anhu. And he spoke to him in his dream and pretty much punched him in his chest, and said, "Don't you ever think about committing this sin." SubhanAllah, just randomly had this dream. This is how much love Allah has for someone — that He will send such dreams to awaken a person.

So we learn from here the power, the evil effect of these sins. That they not only take you towards Allah's anger and bring Allah's displeasure to us, but then they make us inclined towards those things which Allah told us not to do. This is the nafs.

A human being becomes greedy over that which you forbid him from. You tell a child, "You can go here but not there." What happens? The child wants to go exactly to that location. That's the fitrah of the human being — that whatever we tell him not to do, that's exactly what he wants to do.

So when Allah prohibited things, what should we have? We should have the hatred for those things Allah prohibited, not the liking. And what Allah made rewarding, we should find pleasure in it. This is why the du'a comes:

اللَّهُمَّ حَبِّبْ إِلَيْنَا الْإِيمَانَ وَزَيِّنْهُ فِي قُلُوبِنَا وَكَرِّهْ إِلَيْنَا الْكُفْرَ وَالْفُسُوقَ وَالْعِصْيَانَ وَاجْعَلْنَا مِنَ الرَّاشِدِينَ

This is taken from a verse in Surah Al-Hujurat. Allah is speaking about this:

"Oh Allah, make iman beloved to me and beautify it in my heart. And make disbelief and kufr absolutely repugnant to me. Make major sins — fusuq — repugnant in my eyes. And any and all forms of Your disobedience — al-'isyan — make me hate it. And Oh Allah, make me from amongst the successful ones."

You don't have to say it in Arabic. You can say this du'a in your own language. Just make note of it.

Another du'a comes to mind:

يَا اللهُ إِذَا أَقْرَرْتَ أَعْيُنَ أَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا مِنْ دُنْيَاهُمْ، فَأَقِرَّ عَيْنِي مِنْ عِبَادَتِكَ

"Oh Allah, when You make the people of the dunya content and happy with their dunya, Oh Allah, make me happy with Your worship."

See, the people who are after money — the average person who loves money, materialism — the high he gets when he sits in a luxurious car, gawking at an expensive car, walking past an expensive car dealership, going to a car show. He gets excitement by looking at expensive hotels, and expensive planes, and expensive this and that. And of course he gets a lot of pleasure if he's able to own one of those. A person who has dunya in his heart, he could spend hours just looking at his money, his stocks, his land, his agriculture, his investments.

So — Oh Allah, when you make the people of the dunya content and happy with their dunya, make me happy with Your worship.

There are people, you'll see, they don't get excited by food. "I fasted all day. Brother, give me a date and a glass of water and just fruits, and I'm done. I want to sit for Maghrib and Isha doing ibadah." "Brother, don't you want to go eat?" "I'm okay." And were you thinking about food the whole day? "Absolutely not." But they really enjoy SubhanAllah reading a book, reading Qur'an, doing dhikr. Standing up, their feet are tired, they're swollen. But they enjoy those moments. That's what we all want to become. Say Ameen.

The Fourth Evil Effect: Losing the Desire to Do Good

Number four: يُبَاعِدُنِي عَمَّا دَعَوْتَنِي إِلَيْهِ — "Oh Allah, I seek forgiveness for every such sin that distances me from the enjoyment of that which You have invited me to." Meaning, "Oh Allah, I do not want to lose the desire to do good."

Yesterday we had a discussion on a candlelight conversation — about many people who say, "When you go to the masjid, you're supposed to feel a high. You're supposed to feel spiritual. I don't feel spiritual. Apparently you're supposed to enjoy going to the masjid. I don't even have a desire to go to the masjid."

And that discussion — how did we move forward? We said: the reason a person does not have a desire to go to the masjid and doesn't even feel it, is because the amount of layers of gunk that have taken over his heart due to excessive sin is such that he simply cannot feel the spirituality of the masjid, and he's even lost the appetite for the masjid.

Today marks, I think, the fifth anniversary — if I can call it that — from the start of the COVID pandemic and the closure of our masajid and institutions. What a SubhanAllah tough time that was. But in that tough time, may Allah accept the martyrdom of all those who passed away in those days. And may Allah grant shifa for all those who are still sick from those days. And may Allah bring back to the masjid those whom we lost in those days. Ameen.

So — if at that time a person loses their taste buds, loses their sense of taste or smell, we would not think that's something to be proud of. "Alhamdulillah, I can now pick up garbage and don't smell it. I can go to the bathroom and it doesn't mean anything to me. I can change diapers and I don't have to smell anything." This would not be something you'd be proud about. You would say, "This is a big problem. We need to get treatment for this."

So similarly, not feeling the enjoyment in gatherings in the house of Allah is a problem. And the solution for that is what? Istighfar. When we start doing istighfar, we will be able to get ourselves into, inshallah, a good position.

Du'a Number Three: Repenting for Misleading Others

"Oh Allah, I seek Your forgiveness for every sin into which I, in my deviance, lured one of Your creation, or which I, with my cunning, deceived him into doing — hence teaching him such wicked deeds that he was previously unaware of, and making attractive to him those that he was aware of. Now I am to meet You tomorrow with my burden of sins along with the burden of others' sins."

I ask you, brothers here, and I ask myself — when was the last time in this month of Ramadan or in any previous months did you and I repent from misleading other people? We don't even think about that, do we? That there are people whom I have misled. Very well, possibly. By — for example, there was a haram investment. And I said, "Man, this is great," and you send a message to everyone, "Come, let's invest this." But someone said, "Brother, it's a ribawi investment." "Come on, man, this is not that type of riba, not the one the Qur'an speaks about." Coming up with justifications. Let's just do it.

A person was involved in sin, he got three other guys involved. Who likes to smoke alone? No one smokes alone. No one vapes alone. They always love company. Misery loves company. They say, "I don't wanna burn in hell alone."

You know when you're in grade school, the child gets kicked out of the class — at least they used to, I don't know if they do this anymore. But he's making monkey faces, making paper airplanes and all this stuff. "Oh, little Johnny, you're being disruptive, go outside." So when he goes outside, what does he do? It depends on what type of Johnny he is. But a lot of times he says, "I don't wanna be alone here." So if there is an opportunity for him to look into the class, if there's a glass wall, he will look inside and start making funny faces — so they make another kid laugh. And then the teacher says, "Why are you laughing?" "No, nothing." "You go out too." So that's, MashaAllah, success for little Johnny — he was able to get one other guy out of the class. This is where it starts off from. We don't like to be alone. Misery loves company.

So the one who is sinning — he doesn't find it enough to sin, he wants others to sin as well. People who don't wear hijab — not all people, but some — they feel not comfortable in the company of people who are wearing hijab. And so, based on real stories I'm telling you this, they will actually put pressure on someone who decided to start wearing the hijab to take it off. Because it makes them feel guilty and uncomfortable.

Ya Allah, I seek refuge in You, I seek forgiveness from You from every such sin in which I have lured one of Your creations, and I have deceived them into doing something haram. So what did I do? I taught him what he never knew. And all the youngsters over here — youth, high school students, college students — all the fuhsh and the filth and the lewdness that a person learns, he learns it from someone. You learn from a classmate, you learn from a cousin, you learn from a roommate. That's what happens. So if I or you or anyone on Discord, on WhatsApp, or whatever these other platforms that kids use — if we taught someone haram, or we sent a link of haram, and that person lost his innocence — how are you gonna face Allah? For the rest of their life, they can no longer be the same person. And if that happened because of someone, then that person is going to face the repercussion of their own sin and the sin of everyone else. Do we repent from this?

Either I taught him what he didn't know, or he was aware of it but he wasn't interested in doing it — so I beautified it for him. Ya Allah, tomorrow I'm going to meet You with all my sins and the sins of other people. So please forgive me for that.

Du'a Number Four: Six More Evil Effects of Sin

"Oh Allah, I seek Your forgiveness for every sin that calls to deviance, and leads from the path of guidance, and diminishes abundant wealth, and obliterates long-possessed and inherited family wealth, and deprives me of honourable repute, and drives away my family and friends."

MashaAllah — what a beautiful selection we're going through right now. We're learning in every du'a four to five different byproducts of sin, four to five different evil effects of sin. And I hope some of you are taking good notes.

Breaking Down the Six Effects

Every sin calls for deviance. Sin misleads you. It brings about more deviance.

Every sin leads a person away from the path of guidance. SubhanAllah — a person who is doing good deeds, it's one sin that became so upsetting to Allah that Allah just threw him out. The person was regular in deen, regular in the masjid. But he committed a sin that Allah did not like. So now this sin actually takes him away from righteousness.

Number three — يُقِلُّ الْوَفْرَ: Diminishes abundant wealth. How many of us recognize that? How many of us realize that wealth goes away through sin? The hadith that we talked about:

إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيُحْرَمُ مِنَ الرِّزْقِ بِالذَّنْبِ يُصِيبُهُ

"Indeed, a man is deprived of provision because of a sin that he commits." (Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 4022; also reported by Ahmad)

A person gets deprived of rizq because of what? Sins. يُقِلُّ الْوَفْرَ — it decreases wealth.

Number four — وَيَمْحَقُ التَّالِدَةَ: Long-possessed and inherited family wealth. Oh my God! You have ja'idat, as they say — large property being passed down from three generations. And this kid inherits it, and within three years he has lost millions. Isn't that a story? There are too many instances. Ask your dads, ask your mom, ask your grandparents, how many stories there are of people who've inherited millions from family wealth, and it all fell apart, gone. What are the reasons it goes? Mismanagement, this, that. But what do we learn? Sin also becomes a means of destruction.

Number five — وَيُخْمِلُ الذِّكْرَ: You had an honourable reputation amongst the people. Now all of a sudden people are looking down upon you. For some odd reason people don't like you. For some odd reason people have weird thoughts about you. Where is this coming from? An evil effect of the sin.

Number six — وَيُقِلُّ الْعَدَدَ: It drives away family and friends. People who are close to us don't want to spend time with us.

My brothers and sisters, if any of us are suffering these consequences — six consequences — then what's the solution to that? Istighfar. That should be the answer all of you give. That's it. JazakumAllah khairan.

Du'a Number Five: Using Allah's Covering to Hide Our Sins

"Oh Allah, I seek Your forgiveness for every sin in which I exhausted my limbs by day and by night — all the while keeping myself hidden out of shame from Your servants. How did we cover ourselves from others? With Your covering over me. We used Allah's blessings to hide ourselves from the sins that we were doing to protect ourselves from other people."

That's shameful. We are disobeying Allah. And instead of having shame from Him, we're like, "I just don't want you to see me." But you're not even sinning against them — you're sinning against Allah. How about covering yourself up from Allah?

So He says, "Ya Allah, please forgive me for that sin in which I tired myself by sinning. And then continuously I hoped, 'I hope no one finds out.' And indeed there's nothing to cover my sins but that which You cover me with."

Du'a Number Six: When Enemies Use Your Sins Against You

"Oh Allah, I seek Your forgiveness for every sin with which my enemies intended to disgrace me. Allahu Akbar."

This is the game of finding dirt on people. That's what everyone does today. They know about some mistake — you were angry, you said something, you got in trouble for something — and that's what they won't forget, they'll keep on bringing it up. Who are these? These are your enemies. These are people who are jealous of you. They will use your slips and falls against you.

"Oh Allah, but You are so kind — I committed a mistake, I got caught or someone found out about it, and my enemy was using that as ammunition to destroy me. But what did You do?"

You turned their plotting away from me."

Allahu Akbar. This is so emotional.

You did not assist them in disgracing me, as though I were Your obedient servant."

Apply this to our own lives. How many flaws and faults we have. Honestly, if those who don't like us were to find out, we wouldn't be sitting here. They would have taken it to the newspapers — Allah knows best where. But Allah knows that this person sitting here has committed this many sins, and Allah chooses to protect him and not allow the enemy to get wind of it — as though this person is some big wali of Allah and worships Allah all the time. Ya Allah, I'm so sorry. That's what we're saying.

And not only did You protect me from them disgracing me, You sustained me, You helped me, as though it seemed like I were Your wali and friend."

— "And until when, O my Lord, will I disobey You, and You will continue giving me respite and time? How long will this continue — that You see me committing sin and You will not bring the axe down on me?"

And O Allah, long indeed have I disobeyed You. Taalama means more than just 'long.' Long indeed have I disobeyed You. And You have not punished me."

How true this is. We never get caught until it's like the hundredth time. This is the system of Allah. People are allowed — you don't get caught for speeding too, if it's your first. It's usually after so many instances that a person gets in trouble.

But some of you might say, "Man, I actually did get caught the first time when I committed a sin. I did get pulled over the first time I broke the law." What do we say to that person? Alhamdulillah. You're very blessed. You're chosen. Allah did not want you to have the burden of 99 other sins on top of it. Allah got you in trouble the first time. When you're 79 years old and you got caught, and you're like, "I don't know how to lie that well. I don't know how to cheat that well. I don't know how to cover up my faults." Alhamdulillah. Because if you're slick and sly and you know how to lie — my God, there's no limit to how deep you can fall. This is very scary. Because when a person thinks he's being smart and can get himself out of every situation, that actually harms him the most. Being a little simple-minded, what you call bhola bala, and not being really slick and sharp, is a big blessing at times. Because you get caught for your mistakes, and then, alhamdulillah, you stop doing that.

So he says: "How many times have I disobeyed You, but yet You have not punished me."

وَسَأَلْتُكَ عَلَى سُوءِ فِعْلِي فَأَعْطَيْتَنِي — "And ya Allah, long indeed have I, with all my evil deeds, beseeched You, and You have granted me my request." How many times at iftar and suhoor we've made du'a? How many khatm al-Qur'an nights we've made du'a? How many other occasions we've made du'a? And Allah is giving it to us, even though we are very sinful. Allah doesn't say, "Come up clean first before you even come and talk to Me." He continues to give us, even though we've got so many sins.

— "Oh Allah! What meager thanks of mine can measure up in Your sight to even one of Your many blessings upon me? How can I thank You? What way do I have to appreciate even one of the countless blessings that You have given me?" MashaAllah tabarak wa ta'ala.

Are you all enjoying this? We're learning here how to speak to Allah. And the language of speaking to Allah is a language where we express our love for Him — and belittle ourselves. And you know, we're nobody to say, "I've gotta humble myself." We're nothing. As they say:

"Your beginning is a dirty drop, your end is a stinking corpse, and in between you carry filth." (Attributed to various early scholars; referenced in works of asceticism such as those of Imam al-Ghazali)

Your beginning is a dirty drop of semen. Your ending is a stinking corpse. And in between these two stages, you are carrying filth in your body. This is the definition of human being, of insan, of all of us. There's no person — no big mufti, no big doctor, no big businessman — for whom this definition does not apply. Nobody. So we should not find it difficult to humble ourselves in front of Allah, to debase ourselves in front of Allah. Keep on saying, "Allah, I'm nobody."

In front of the dunya, you should not debase yourself — you have, MashaAllah, iman, you have the blessings of Allah. But in front of Allah, we're nothing. And we have to constantly keep on reminding ourselves of that. And Allah loves that. When you put your nose on the ground, when you put your forehead on the ground, and you say, "Allah, I'm nothing. All my degrees, all my wealth, all my power, all my name — I throw it out. I just want You to look at me with a glance of mercy and say You've forgiven me. That's all I want."

So these are the ways that we have to be innovative in our thinking. When a person puts his mind to something, he will find the solution. When you put your mind to du'a and say, "I must get forgiven" — you might say, "I'm 40, 60 years old, I've never heard how to make du'a like this." We have to put our mind into our du'a. And we have to really just sit there and say, "Alright, how do I deal with this?"

MashaAllah, a lot of us, alhamdulillah, are very capable in our own respective jobs. We know how to handle a fire at work. We know how to take on tough issues that arise. Similarly, we have to recognize that our life is one big tough cookie. Our sins are a very big problematic issue. And now when we're speaking with Allah, we have to put our mind into it and say, "How do I truly get rid of this problem?" When you put your heart and mind into your du'a, you will be inspired in ways that will shock you — you won't even realize what's coming off your lips, what's coming off your tongue.

I ask Allah to accept all these du'as that we read today on our behalf. I ask Allah that He doesn't make this just a study circle, but instead this is a majlis of du'a — that these du'as that we've done, may Allah accept them on behalf of us and our loved ones. Ameen, Rabbil 'Alamin.

Closing Du'a

We have very valuable minutes before the ending of Friday. So I request everyone to proceed downstairs, inshallah, quickly. And we will begin the du'a. And all those who are listening online, please be focused on the du'a and let's participate.

Oh Allah, we ask You to accept this 21st day of our fast. Oh Allah, we ask You to accept our qiyam, accept all the ibadah that was done this past night on the odd night of Ramadan. Oh Allah, whatever dhikr, du'a, ibadah, sadaqah we have given on this blessed day of Jumu'ah — ya Allah, we ask You to grant all of it qubul and acceptance.

Oh Allah, through the barakah of the good that we are doing, grant us the tawfiq to repent from the sins that we have yet to repent from. Oh Allah, grant us the ability to see and understand our flaws and faults. Oh Allah, grant us all the required means to be able to bring positive, true changes in our lives.

Oh Allah, we ask You to grant us protection from any and all disobedience of Yours. Oh Allah, grant us protection from the evil insinuations of our nafs. Oh Allah, we ask You to keep our spouses and our children and our parents and our siblings, ya Allah, strong and safe. Oh Allah, we ask You to grant the barakah of iman within our homes. Oh Allah, we ask You, ya Allah, to grant us all mahabbah for You and love for You.

Oh Allah, we ask You, ya Allah, to have mercy upon the brothers and sisters across the globe — including especially Sudan and Gaza and Palestine and Sham and other parts of the globe, ya Allah, here in this country as well as other parts of the world. Oh Allah, have mercy upon the oppressed ones. Have mercy upon the oppressed ones. Oh Allah, have mercy upon the oppressed ones.

Allow us to feel the pain that the ummah is going through. Allow us, ya Allah, to feel the pain of community members who are not able to come to the masjid across the globe. Oh Allah, we ask You to inspire us with the proper solutions to address their needs.

Oh Allah, we ask You, ya Allah, to grant us the ability to give from that which You have given us, and grant acceptance to that which You have already taken. Oh Allah, we ask You to allow us to become amongst the most generous of people. Oh Allah, allow us to become amongst the most generous of people.

Oh Allah, we ask You, ya Allah — whatever good Rasulullah ﷺ asked You of, Oh Allah, grant us all that good. Whatever he sought refuge in You from, grant us refuge from all of those things.

We can make a personal du'a as we break our fast.
