Summary

Congratulations To Those Who Are Patient

  • Understanding the virtue of Sabr (patience) in Islam.
  • Connecting Sabr to Allah's divine attribute, Al-Lateef (The Subtle, The Kind).
  • Allah's promise of reward and congratulations to those who are patient.

The Inevitable Divine Tests

  • Allah tests His servants with various forms of hardship.
  • These tests include fear, hunger, and loss of wealth, lives, and sustenance.
  • Trials are an integral part of a believer's journey, designed to purify and strengthen faith.

The Hallmark of the Patient

  • The distinguishing characteristic of the patient is their response to calamity.
  • They declare: 'Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return.'
  • This declaration signifies acceptance of Allah's decree and reliance on Him.
  • It is a powerful affirmation of faith and submission during hardship.

Turning to Allah: Ya Lateef!

  • When faced with trials, the patient turn to Allah with specific invocations.
  • Invoking 'Ya Lateef' (Oh The Subtle, The Kind) acknowledges Allah's gentle care.
  • It expresses hope that Allah will reveal the hidden good and ease in the situation.
  • This supplication is a direct plea for divine subtlety and kindness in our affairs.

Digging for the Hidden Diamond

  • Life's challenges can be seen as a wrapped 'present' from Allah.
  • The 'diamond' represents the hidden wisdom, reward, or growth within the trial.
  • Patience is the continuous, persistent effort of 'digging' through the difficulty.
  • Trusting that with perseverance, the valuable lesson or reward will eventually be found.

Congratulations To Those Who Are Patient

Al-Lateef teaches you sabr. Allah says in the Qur'an:

We will definitely test you with fear and with hunger, and you will lose wealth, sustenance, food. But congratulations to those who are patient — those who, when a calamity strikes them, said: we belong to Allah, and we are going back to Him.

Those who return to calamity by saying:

يَا لَطِيفُ

"Oh Allah, I don't know what's inside this present. And when am I going to find the diamond? But I'm going to keep digging day after day until I find it."
