Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar.

Ameen.

Ya Rabb, we are extremely, extremely grateful to you that you gave us another Ramadan. Ya Allah, just like you made us witness Ramadan, Ya Allah, accept every amal that we have done in Ramadan. Ameen, Ya Rabbil Alameen.

The Excellence of Abu Bakr

Abu Bakr radiallahu anhu, he was not tortured like Bilal and Yasser, but he was better than them. And he did not die as a shaheed like Umar, Uthman and Ali, but he was better than them. And he was not a faqeer like Abu Dharr and Abu Hurairah, but he was better than them. So what is that thing that gave him the superiority over the rest of the sahaba?

Abu Bakr Al-Muzani, he answered that question. He said:

Abu Bakr did not surpass everyone by extra salat or extra fasting, but it was something that was in his heart. It was his iman. It was his iman. Like it was said Abu Bakr, if the iman of the whole ummah is in one pan of the scale, and the iman of Abu Bakr on the other pan, the iman of Abu Bakr will overweigh the iman of the whole ummah.

Our Ramadan Charge

My brothers and sisters, that iman that Abu Bakr had, we came a little bit, or we got a little bit of it in the month of Ramadan. We have been charging for 30 days, salat in jama'ah, fajr and isha' in jama'ah, and all five. Fasting of course, taraweeh in the masjid. I'm not satisfied. I came back again at 3:30 a.m. to do more qiyam. I finished the Quran once or twice. I made a lot of dua, so we reached the peak of our iman in Ramadan.

And the more you are charged in Ramadan, the longer it will last after Ramadan. How do I find out? If you were from the people of fajr, if you were from the people of isha', if you were from the people of reading the Quran every day, and all of a sudden you stopped after Ramadan, that means your charge was very, very, very extremely weak.

Some people their charge lasts to the end of Shawwal, some to Muharram, some to Rabi' al-Awwal, and some their charge lasts till next Ramadan. They are charged. It's not gonna be the same as Ramadan, but it's as close as possible.

Recognizing Allah's Blessings

So my beloved brothers and sisters, Allah blessed us so much, so much. Allah, when you look around you, Allah, you will cry from the blessings that we are drowning in. Look around you. Air-conditioned. Thick carpet, clean. Brothers and sisters that cannot wait to go and be with their families.

And we have brothers in Gaza that are suffering. They do not know what to eat for the Eid. They have no gifts for their children. Our brothers in Yemen are struggling. Our brothers in Somalia have no water, no clean water. And we are, what did I do to deserve this?

And on top of that, after being blessed with all these blessings, I stopped coming to your house, ya Allah. I'm done. I'm done, ya Allah. Ramadan is over as if Allah said:

وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّى يَنْتَهِيَ رَمَضَانُ

As if Allah said, worship your Lord until Ramadan is over. No, He did not say that. He said:

Worship Allah until death comes. Not until Ramadan is over.

Don't Be a Ramadani, Be Rabbani

Ya Habibi, ya Habibi, my beloved brother and sister, what did Allah do for you to stop coming to the Masjid? What did He do to you? You know how many millions of people, millions, literally millions of people, would love to be in your shoes. The blind would love to have your eyes. The deaf would love to have your hearing. The paralyzed would love to have your mobility. The hungry would love to have your food. The one who has no children would love to have children like you. The one who is in the hospital breathing through tubes would love to have normal breathing just like you. The one who is suffering from insecurity all over, he would love to have the peace that you had.

And on top of that, instead of being عَبْدًا شَكُورًا, instead of being a grateful abd, I stopped coming to the house of Allah, and I stopped my worship. Some of us believe it or not, they stop praying after Ramadan.

Ya Allah! If you are one of those people, please listen to me, brother. Listen to me, sister. I love you for the sake of Allah. Please, please don't do that. Please! You are risking your akhira.

You have chosen to be a Ramadani, not Rabbani. You have chosen to make your own deen when you pray only in Ramadan. Alhamdulillah, you prayed in Ramadan. May Allah bless you and accept your salat. But why did you stop? Why are you intending to stop?

My sister that put the hijab in Ramadan, why are you intending? A sister told me, I said, mashallah, sister, Allah Akbar! You put the hijab? Shaykh, only Ramadan? Why? Why? Who said put the hijab in Ramadan? Who said pray only in Ramadan? Who said that?

When you do not find that no one said that, that means literally you are making your own deen. And Allah said:

Not yours. So in order to be grateful, we use the ni'mah that Allah blessed us with to serve Him.

Maintaining the Blessings of Ramadan

My brothers and sisters, one of the ways to maintain what we have done in Ramadan, just anytime you have something very precious, very expensive, very amazing, you want to maintain it. So we have done something amazing, I want to maintain it. So I fast 30 days, 3 days of every month to keep it up. I prayed Qiyam hours, 10 minutes from now on. I read the whole Qur'an, I will read 3, 4, 5 pages a day. I gave thousands of dollars in charity, I will give 100. Whatever you can, but maintain that great ni'mah that Allah blessed us with.

The Joy of Eid

Today, like Rasulullah (ﷺ) said, it's a day of joy, of eating and drinking and happiness. This is one of the two days of the year it is haram to fast. And Rasulullah (ﷺ) told us, "Whomsoever fast the month of Ramadan and follow it by 6 days of Shawwal, as if he or she has fasted the whole year." Because the hasanah is multiplied by 10, I fasted 30 days of Ramadan times 10 is 300, 6 days of Shawwal times 10 is 60, 360 days. What a great offer.

So I fast 6 days in Shawwal, and I am eating in Safar, in Rabi'al Thani, and I'm recorded fasting. This is the ni'mah, one of the ni'mah of Allah, one of the gifts. So ya Akhwan, take advantage of it. Finish, today is no fasting, start from tomorrow, and do your 6 days. Can I do them separately? Absolutely. Do them separately, do them consecutively, combine the intention of Monday and Thursday with the fast of Shawwal, the 3 white days of Shawwal. But try to finish if you have any days from Ramadan, finish these first, because these are a must. I cannot do the sunnah while the fard is not complete yet. Finish your fard first, and then do the sunnah siyam.

Making Eid Special for Our Children

My brothers and sisters, today is a very special day for our children. Please make them feel that today is different than yesterday, than the day before. I asked the brother, what are you doing with the children today? He said, sheikh, today is my day, it's Sunday, today is my day to sleep. I said, ya habibi, fear Allah. Christmas, haram. Easter, haram. This haram, that haram. Eid, we sleep. No brother, take them out, let them have fun, buy them gifts. Let them feel that today is different. It's only, subhanak ya rabbi, 2 days out of 360 days. Let them feel the joy, let them look forward, that there's an Eid coming, I cannot wait, baba is gonna do this to us, mama is gonna take us there, and they are excited for the Eid. But to make the Eid just another day, or sleeping and nothing to be done, no ya akhi, that's not fair. It's not fair.

Remembering Our Ummah

My brothers and sisters, in these joyful moments, please remember our brothers and sisters all over the world. Always make dua for them that Allah will relieve them from the stress and the grief that they are in.

Seeking Acceptance

My brothers and sisters, beg Allah to make us witness another Ramadan. Beg Allah in these days to accept everything that we have done in Ramadan. One of the greetings of Ramadan is تقبل الله منا ومنكم - "May Allah accept from us and from you." That's the best greeting in Ramadan. Because after the ibadah is done, our main concern should be, did Allah accept? Ali (radiallahu anhu) said, we should be more concerned about the qabool than the ibadah itself. We should be more concerned if the amal is accepted, more than the amal itself. So we beg Allah to accept our salat, our siyam, our dua. We beg Allah to accept our charities. We beg Allah to accept everything that we have done. Ameen.

Final Du'as

Ya Allah, we beg you with the best of your names to protect our masjid. Ya Allah, we beg you with the best of your names to protect our masjid. Ya Allah, we beg you with the best of your names to protect our community. Ya Allah, keep our hearts united. Ya Allah, keep our hearts united. Ya rabbal alameen, ya arhamar rahimeen. We beg you with the best of your names to accept everything that we have done in Ramadan.

Ya Allah, we beg you with the best of your names, to relieve the grief of our brothers and sisters in Gaza, in Yemen, in Sudan, in Lebanon, in Syria, in Pakistan, in Kashmir, in Burma. We know that our brothers and sisters lost a lot of brothers and sisters in Burma. May Allah accept them as shuhada. May Allah accept them as shuhada. Ameen, ya rabbal alameen.
