Summary

The Human Desire to Impress

  • We constantly strive to impress others in our daily lives.
  • Our actions, words, and even appearance are often tailored for people.
  • This pursuit of human approval is a common human tendency.

A Misplaced Focus

  • We try to hide our imperfections and mistakes from people.
  • Yet, we often forget that Allah sees everything, without exception.
  • He is present in every moment, every conversation, every thought.

Allah's Unwavering Presence

  • Allah is always with us, observing our actions and intentions.
  • He watches us, even when we are speaking words that displease Him.
  • Not for a moment is He absent from our lives.

The Tragedy of Neglect

  • Despite Allah's constant presence, we often fail to try and impress Him.
  • We don't strive to please Him with our words or actions.
  • We don't 'dress up' our intentions or speech for His sake.

Understanding Al-Aleem

  • This profound neglect stems from not truly knowing Allah.
  • Specifically, it's a tragedy of not understanding His attribute: Al-Aleem.
  • Al-Aleem signifies The All-Knowing, The Omniscient.

We always try to impress people, but it should shame us that we never try to impress Allah. You can hide from people, but you can never hide from Allah. And he was with them in that moment where they were speaking words that didn't please him.

He was with them. He was watching them. But not for a moment did they try to impress him.

Not for a moment did they try to please him. Not for a moment did they dress up for him. This is the tragedy of not knowing الْعَلِيم — Al-Aleem.
