Summary
The Quest for Honor
- Everyone desires honor, dignity, and high status.
- Where do we instinctively look for it?
- Allah, Al-Aziz, provides the ultimate answer.
Allah: The Sole Source of Honor
- All forms of honor and dignity belong exclusively to Allah.
- Do not seek it from any other source.
The Illusion of Material Status
- Branded cars and luxury accessories (e.g., Rolex watches).
- Job titles and professional achievements.
- These are often used to project an image of success and respect.
Seeking Status Through Social Affiliations
- Tribe, lineage, and family name.
- The restaurants we frequent, the company we keep.
- These are attempts to gain social standing and validation from others.
Why Worldly Status is Fleeting
- All these external markers are temporary and transient.
- They do not define your true worth or status in the long run.
- They are superficial and can vanish instantly.
Want Honor and High Status?
If you want honor and you want dignity and you want high status, take it from Al-Aziz. What does Allah say in the Quran? Whoever wants prestige, status, honor — all honor and dignity belongs to Allah. Don't take it from anyone else.
Don't take it from people. Sometimes, how do we try to get status? Branded cars, Rolex watch, job title, tribe, lineage, family name, the restaurant I'm eating in, the company that I keep. Sometimes, we do these things because we want to be respected.
We want to be seen. "Oh, this person is a respectable figure. This person is of this level."
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says all of these things are temporary and they don't mean anything about your status. Your status belongs with Allah.
