By Br. Abdul Rahman Idris | 2026-06-04T21:07:37.988452+00:00 | Topic: Khutbah

Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no god but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. All praise is due to Allah.

Make sure to leave no gaps, it is very crowded today. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ so please leave no gaps, fill in all the spaces you see. As you know, the sunnah is that after the first takbirah there will be seven following takbirat and then al-Fatiha and a surah, and in the second rak'ah once we get back up there will be five extra takbirat and then we continue and finish with two salams and then we will have the short Eid khutbah Make sure everyone is foot to foot, shoulder to shoulder, leave no gaps Are we good in the back inshaAllah?

Following behind our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Praising Allah on This Day of Celebration

And the Prophet ﷺ would begin praising Allah, giving glory to Allah because truly all praise belongs to Allah. We say Allah is the greatest because Ya Allah, You have given us everything. We say Allah is the greatest because Ya Allah, even if You didn't give us everything, You are the Rahman, the Rahim. We say Allahu Akbar because all praise belongs to Him. All perfection belongs to Him. Everything belongs to Him. Every person belongs to Him. All the countries belong to Him. All the lands belong to Him. Every planet belongs to Him. Every star belongs to Him. Every sun and moon belongs to Rabbil Alameen. Everything in the seven heavens and in the earth belongs to Allah. And truly all praise belongs to Him.

Should we not praise the One who gave you and I the life that we have? Should we not praise the One who allowed us to just witness the most blessed month of all the months, Shahrul Ramadan? Should we not praise Him, the One that in every night, He had a list of people who He said, the hellfire is haram on you. Should we not praise Him, the One that every night in Ramadan, outside Ramadan, He comes down to the lowest level of the heavens and Allah stands and says, who needs something so that I may give it to him? Who is asking for forgiveness so that I may forgive him? Does Allah not belong all praise to Him? Does not all praise belong to Allah? Does not all perfection belong to Allah?

The Purpose of Our Gratitude

Ikhwani, the whole month, you heard the ayah in Surah Shahrul Ramadan, the whole month you heard the same ayah repeated and repeated and repeated, but how did Allah end the ayah? How did He end it?

So that you can proclaim the greatness of Allah for guiding you, for giving you Ramadan, for giving you the fasting, for giving you that qiyam al-layl, for giving you that sweetness of iman that we had for 30 days and nights, for giving us that strength and ability to come to the masjid every day and worship Allah, for giving us everything that we have, so that you can praise Him and thank Him, لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ - Maybe you'll be grateful.

Levels of Gratitude

Ikhwani, ikhwat fillah. How grateful are we to Allah? In a day of celebration, in a day of thankfulness, how thankful are we really to Allah?

And there's different levels of thankfulness. Sometimes you think someone gives you a gift, imagine you're so in awe of the gift that you forget who the person was that gave it to you. You have a beautiful nice gift, a beautiful whatever new car, whatever it is, and you're just so focused on the gift, forgetting who the giver was. The better levels, you thank the person for giving you this gift. For giving you this gift. And the third and highest level, may Allah make us from amongst them, is that not only you thank the person for the gift, you're saying, how can I use this gift to please this person? How can I get close to this person? Forget the gift, I want to be close to this person.

To Allah belongs the highest of comparisons. How grateful and thankful are we to Allah? A question for me and for everyone here.

The Acceptance of Our Deeds

Did Allah accept? Did Allah accept? Did Allah accept our fasting? Did Allah accept our tarawih every night? Did Allah accept our reading the Quran? Maybe we completed one, two, three more in the whole month. Did Allah accept our dhikr, our dua? When many of us were here, at 3, 2, 3 AM, begging Allah for forgiveness for our shortcomings. Begging Allah to alleviate the struggles. Was it accepted?

I have a glad tidings for everyone here. Wallahi it was accepted. Wallahi it was accepted, bi'idhnillah. Because my Rabb and your Rabb is Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim. 17 times, every single day, when we get up, when we worship Allah, when we pray to Him and praise Him and ask for Him, we say, Every single day, Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim. The most merciful, the especially merciful. And He is Al-Wadud. He is Al-Arsh Al-Majeed. The only one Allah. The only one deity. None is worthy of worship except Him.

Of course He accepted it. Of course, because He is Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim. أَنَا عِنْدَ حُسْنِ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي - I am as how my slave sees me. Let's see Him as the most merciful. Let's see Him as the most forgiving. Let's be grateful and be thankful slaves to Allah.

So that maybe, maybe, even if we had shortcomings, even if we didn't have khushu', even if we didn't get up and pray Qiyam every single night, even if we didn't come and pray Isha or Fajr in jama'ah, even if we didn't finish khatm of Quran. Ya Allah, Ya Rabb al-alameen, I ask you by all your names and attributes, you are the most merciful, you are the most forgiving. Ya Allah, everyone here and today that's listening or watching or that's present, Ya Allah, if you have not forgiven us after Ramadan, I beg you now, please forgive us, Ya Rabb al-alameen. I beg you, Ya Allah, accept our fasting in the month of Ramadan. I ask you, Ya Allah, to accept our repentance, Ya Rabb al-alameen. Ya Rabb, forgive all of us for we are all sinners, and Ya Rabb, we are nothing without you. Ya Rabb al-alameen.

Building Taqwa - Moving Forward

Time is of the essence, and Wallahi, trust me, just like you, I want to go be with my family, and I want to be with all of you, insha'Allah ta'ala.

A few reminders, insha'Allah ta'ala. The whole purpose of why we are fasting was to build taqwa.

Piety, God consciousness. We were, alhamdulillah, pushing and striving for 30 days. None of us will be the same where we are in Ramadan as we are in the rest of months. None of us, it's okay. But let's not go back to how we were before.

And for my younger brothers and sisters around my age, let's not go back to the haram relationships we might have been in before. Let's not be late out at night free mixing with the opposite gender. Let's maybe give up the addictions and what we view behind closed doors and haram. Let's maybe give up the substances that we might have been taking, whether that's through ingesting, or injecting, or smoking, or drinking. For Allah is Arham al-Rahimeen. And Allah wants to forgive you and I. So let us come back to Him.

For my brothers, let us be the best of husbands today. Let us be the best of fathers today. Let us really truly enjoy Eid and show that Ramadan had an effect on us. Show that Ramadan softened our hearts. Show that we have built taqwa. That, ya Allah, we fear You and we love You. So we'll do everything to please You. We'll take care of our family. We'll earn a halal income.

My sister, you wore the hijab in Ramadan. Allahu Akbar. May Allah keep all our sisters and keep them steadfast on the straight path. And allow them all to wear the hijab in and outside Ramadan. Ameen. May Allah allow all us brothers and sisters to lower our gaze, ya Rabbil Alameen. May Allah allow us to protect our private parts from haram, ya Rabbil Alameen. May Allah free any brother or sister suffering from any addiction, whether it's a substance or whether it's a muharramat, an addiction of the heart, an addiction of the soul, a disease of anything like. May Allah forgive us all, ya Rabbil Alameen.

Being Among the Grateful

And Allah, what does He want?

Very few of My servants and slaves are grateful and thankful. But today, let us be from the thankful slaves. Let us be from the grateful slaves. May Allah make us thankful and grateful to Him.

Time is of the essence. Let's keep it brief inshaAllah. Allah says:

If you're grateful and thankful, I will increase you. Allah will increase in everything.

The Blessing of Gratitude and Generosity

You don't have enough wealth. Be thankful. Give. Allah will give you. You're stuck with some sort of issue. Give and be grateful. Allah will alleviate it. Whatever it is, let us be grateful today. Let us be thankful today. So Allah can give us the sweetness of iman in the rest of these 11 months.

And remember, there are 6 days in this month that we fast them. We get the ajr of fasting the whole year. 6 days. Just 6. I'm not telling you to fast another 30. Go eat. Have a good dinner, breakfast, brunch, lunch. Everything today with your family. But just 6 days. So you can get a full year's reward of fasting.

Making Eid Special for Our Families

And as we end and conclude, my brothers, my sisters, that today is the day of Eid. And especially to my beloved uncles and brothers around who have family. We only have 2 of these days. Just 2. That's it. Christmas haram. Easter haram. Halloween haram. Yes, agreed. But this day, make it a special day. For your wife. For your daughter. For your son. For the family around. This day, make it the best day of the year. Give them whatever they want.

And for the children, you have prescription right now. Your dad owes you Eidi. You have, khalas. I give you guys permission. After the khutbah, by the end of today, your dad owes you Eidi. Confirm? All my younger brothers and sisters. Fathers, that's it. I'm sorry. But you have to deal with it.

So inshaAllah, let's enjoy today. Today, be easy going. Let things go. Forgive. Especially today, forgive.

The Power of Forgiveness

We all know someone who might have wronged us. Someone might have slandered us. Backbitten us. Stolen from us. And I'm talking especially, silatul arham. The ties of kinship. Our family. Our own brothers and sisters and uncles and aunts. Today, call them. Today, forgive them. I don't care what they did. I don't care. Forgive them. Do we not want Allah to forgive us? Do we not want Allah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim to forgive you and me? So forgive. So that Allah can forgive all of us bi-idhnillahi ta'ala.

Showing Love and Affection

Please, please, please. I beg you. Enjoy today. Praise Allah often today. My brothers, the husband, hug your spouse. Give her affection. My sister, the wife, give your husband affection. Show love. Forgive what has happened. To the children, give them affection. Love them, hug them, kiss them. To the uncles, the aunts, the cousins, show affection. To the brothers and sisters around, show affection and love to each other. Because:

Verily, the believers are brothers. So rectify the affairs.

Du'a for Our Ummah

And before I end, it would be a crime to stand here and not remind our... We have brothers and sisters across the world and we're one ummah, one body. May Allah alleviate the affairs of all the ummah. May Allah be with our brothers and sisters in Gaza. May Allah accept their shahadah. May Allah give them a beautiful peaceful day. May Allah give them glad tidings of Jannah. May Allah allow us to soon alleviate all of their affairs.

May Allah be with our brothers and sisters in Sudan and alleviate their afflictions that they're going through. Our brothers and sisters in Hisham. May Allah alleviate their afflictions. In Yemen, in Afghanistan, in Iraq, Burma, Myanmar, everywhere.

Ya Rabb, You are our only Lord. You are our only Mawla. We turn to You and only You.

Allahumma, Ya Rabb, Ya Rahman, Ya Raheem, Ya Afu, Ya Kareem. Rabbana, la tuziq qulubana ba'da idh hadaytana wa hab lana min ladunka rahmah. Innaka anta al-Wahhab.
